I have the exact same problem as you, but I am running a Core i7 4960X @ 4.4GHz (Offset Voltage +0.070) with 32GB G.Skill RAM @ 2133 MHz.
Latest Windows 10 PRO x64 with all updates.
MSI GeForce GTX 1080 Ti AERO 11GB OC edition.
SAMSUNG 40" UHDTV
ASUS RAMPAGE IV BLACK EDITION BIOS 0801
Custom Water Cooled Loop ( Pump -> GPU -> RAD -> CPU -> RAD -> Pump)
If I login to the ADMINISTRATOR account, everything works fine.
If I login to my user and I right click the desktop and left click DESKTOP SETTING - BLACK SCREEN !!!
It happens IMMEDIATELY....
I have reported this to nVidia to see if they do anything.
I have tried 378.78 which is the first driver to support the Ti and 384.94 which is the latest driver.
Black Screen issue was reported here... ->
https://www.digitaltrends.com/computing/nvidia-releases-geforce-37878-whql-drivers/Under KNOWN ISSUES it says "Pascal GPUs on notebook might remain blank and require a reboot after overinstalling the driver."
nVidia knows about this. I wonder if it is in the Pascal die.....
I did a DDU wipe and a CUSTOM CLEAN Install with just Drivers, Physx, and GeForce Xperience,
No 3D Drivers or Audio Drivers.
It is the stupidist thing.
I bought and installed an EK 1080 GPU Water Block, a second PE 240 radiator and replaced my RX 480 8GB with this card and I really don't want to go back.
nVidia better wake up and fix this because I can't play games under my ADMIN account...
I am going to try a DP to HDMI cable and see if it works.
My whole install was working great for about 5 hours and then BLACK SCREEN...
Now the system only stay up for 5 minutes at the most.
