I have been having inexplicable shutdown of the USB ports and restart, and having BSOD with my wireless USB adaptor. I have noticed too that Flash player lags. So, I did a fresh install of Windows 7 64 bit because of the lag from the Flashplayer under all browsers. When I tried to get the installation DVD to install, it would error out. I literally had to try like 20 times with my fingers crossed just to get it to work!! Flash still lagged with fresh install of Windows until I did my next thing below.
The lag issues with Flash and the DVD drive issues did not occur before the BIOS update to 4804. I did however, find that by disabling the Asmedia USB controller hub, that flash player stopped lagging. Also, I would like to add that the DVD drive is hooked up to the SATA port that is part of the extra SATA chip, and not the native port from the X79 southbridge.
I think the BIOS is overclocking data busses or the MASTER CLOCK, or that the voltages are not correct. I would think that the BIOS should not be going outside of parameters set fourth for the X79 chipset and the peripheral chips that extend functionality.
What do you guys think??
