Rampage IV Formula - RSTe to RST

Hello,

Since the release of Intel RST for X79 chipsets/boards I've been tossing up the idea of switching to RST from the previous only choice of RSTe for raid configurations. I have decided to do this now after noticing my laptop is killing my desktop in HDD performance.

Lappy has 2 Hitachi Darkstars 7K's running in RAID 0, desktop has WD Caviar Blacks in RAID 0 and (i beleive - from memory) 2 Caviar Blues in RAID 0 [seperate array]

So I began the process of making the switch and thought before doing this to ensure BIOS was the latest version. SO I've updated the BIOS and whilst reconfiguring my settings the BIOS UEIFI informed me to make the switch from RSTe to RST I will need to reinstall windows? This I'd rather avoid for obvious reasons.

So do I actually have to reinstall windows? According to http://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?32484-Help-removing-RST-e-and-installing-RST-on-Rampage-IV-... I shouldnt have to following Unixsystem post.

Also if I do follow Unixsystem instructions will this stuff up/destroy my array's - both have alot on them that I can not backup due to size limits?

Thanks for any help it'll be appreciated

Unixsystem's instructions work. But as always you should backup any valuable data before doing any operations that involve valuable data.
