Hi All,

I am in need of some assistance, I have a problem only upon re-booting. windows crashes at the start up menu. I fist figured it was something else and ended up replacing just about every component of the system. I usually have enter the bios upon start up and hit save, change nothing, then my system will boot with out issues.

Do I have a bad board?..should I be RMAing?

I have updated to the lasted bios and run at stock settings.

any assistance would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Welcome to the Asus ROG forums.
What OS?
You didn't change "CPU Vcore boot up Voltage" did you?
i7-3930K; Asus RIVE; G.SKILL Ripjaws Z 4x4GB DDR3 1866; MSI 7870 2GD5/OC; Crucial M4 SSD 256GB;
Corsair 1000HX; Corsair H100, 4x Excalibur 120mm PWM CPU Fan p-p, AS5; SB X-Fi Titanium Fata1ity Pro;
Dell U2412m IPS 1920x1200; Cooler Master HAF 932 case; Tripp-Lite OMNIVS1500 UPS fully Line-interactive.
(EVGA site: ) And I have a second (wife's) computer, Eve.

Overclocking is useless to me if it is not rock stable.

Hey there! 🙂

What other components do you have in the system? particularly memory...one kit or two etc. Is the OS a fresh install?

Hello!

Here's my set up...

I original thought it was a bad PSU and after (4) RMA's of the EVGA NEX1500 I switched to a MaxRevo 1500. (2) of the NEX1500 actually died and failed testing according to EVGA.

Stock F5 Bios defaults settings no v-core changes.

32 gig of G.Skill Trident X 2400 (8 gig sticks)
512 OCZ Vertex 4 SSD
MaxRexo 1500W PSU
(2) EVGA GTX Titans
CPU 3930k @ Stock

Fresh Windows 8 Pro install

Thanks!

Intel CPUs are only guaranteed to run memory at DDR3 1600, and the Integrated Memory Controller (IMC) is in the CPU, not the mobo. You have to get lucky to run RAM at 2400. This means you can't use XMP either, unless you try the other XMP profile (if you have that). Otherwise you need to set your DRAM V, mem speed, and latencies manually; trying 2000 first (or whatever is close). If that works, then you can try a higher speed, and you may need to increase the voltage by 0.05V too. FYI.

Run memtest86+ v4.20 boot disk overnight must pass one full battery of tests, no errors allowed - no red except "Memtest86 ver." on the screen. Don't use Windows ver Memtest, it can't test all the memory.
Memtest86+ GUIDE

You can use either CD-R boot CD, or make a bootable USB key, both are available for download on www.memtest.org

Unfortunately, if you installed Windows without the Memtest, and Memtest shows errors the way it is currently set up, your Windows install may be corrupt. You may not find out for weeks if it is. If you have troubles, you don't want the possibility of a corrupt Windows install complicating the troubleshooting. You may have to reinstall Windows from scratch to be sure - don't save your settings or anything, wipe your SSD clean before installing. Also, if you have a second drive disconnect it before installing Windows or Windows will install a hidden partition on it, and you won't be able to boot without both hard drives. FYI.

Hi eyepiz can you confirm that is one 32GB kit or two 16GB kits. The reason I ask is that if you are at default BIOS settings the board should be running your RAM at 1333 and normally as a start off point this should be low enough to avoid problems but if two kits even this default may be problematic.

Have a look at this maybe to see if you can get up and running http://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?25510-Rampage-IV-Extreme-RAM-Guide&country=&status=
