Rampage IV Extreme setup keeps crashing. Help needed

Hello,

I have a system that keeps crashing regardless of what I do.

It has actually done this since I bought it just after the Mainboard launced, but I've managed two times to get it running stable with windows 7 Ultimate (UEFI) and have used it with success untill I've had to do a reinstall.

It crashes during installation of Windows 7 Ultimate, Windows 7 Ultimate SP1, Windows 8 PRO, Windows 8.1 PRO and I have also tried all of the above both using normal install or UEFI. Nothing works. 😞

It is possible to install all of the mentioned OS's but when installed and fully updated they keep crashing, just like they did duing the installations.

The crashing isn't uniform, it happens at various times and gives various error codes.

I have the following setup

Motherboard: Asus Rampage IV Extreme
CPU: 3930k
RAM: 4x4GB Corsair Dominator GT (I have tried using only one stick during the testing and installation, and have tried all 4 sticks one at a time with the same result)
PSU: Corsair AX1200
Storage: Corsair Force GT 120 GB ( I have 3 but only use one during testing of errors) (And I've tried to install on all 3 drives at various points with the same result)
GFX: ZOTAC GeForce GTX 680 4GB, (But have had the same problems using 2 different Radeon 7970 cards)

At the moment I have the system running on my table so it is easy to modify and the bios have been updated to 4808 or 2105 and they are both running at default settings. ( I have disabled the onboard soundcard and turned up the chipset fan to max.

I've stripped the system down to its essentials, done no overclocking and unless ALL 4 RAM stick are faulty or maybe my CPU is faulty I am at a loss.

Any Ideas or need more info?

Regards
Michael

How are you installing OSes----from what source? DVD drive? pendrive....all from same source? is what I'm getting at. Have you tried changing SATA cables. Are you using Intel SATA ports?

Do you have any other DDR3 RAM. When you try one stick try on red slot near right CPU and then far right red slot too and far left see if any slots are dodgy...

Have you tried removing CPU from socket and very carefully checking pins in socket for alignment?

Use the BIOS flashback method in this post to reflash BIOS and yes, use 3504 for now...later 4xxx BIOS are a bit more IB-E centric and change some RAM settings etc. which your GTs might not like.

Make sure SSD firmwares are up to date and secure erase them

Clear CMOS between tests...

Thanks for the replys everyone. 🙂

Managed to get Win 7 (Non-UEFI) running, under 4804 with the settings mentioned above.

I'll keep this setup running, and then use the 2nd bios to test win 8.1 UEFI and NON on another SSD without screwing up the system that is running.
