Rampage IV Extreme setup keeps crashing. Help needed

Hello,

I have a system that keeps crashing regardless of what I do.

It has actually done this since I bought it just after the Mainboard launced, but I've managed two times to get it running stable with windows 7 Ultimate (UEFI) and have used it with success untill I've had to do a reinstall.

It crashes during installation of Windows 7 Ultimate, Windows 7 Ultimate SP1, Windows 8 PRO, Windows 8.1 PRO and I have also tried all of the above both using normal install or UEFI. Nothing works. 😞

It is possible to install all of the mentioned OS's but when installed and fully updated they keep crashing, just like they did duing the installations.

The crashing isn't uniform, it happens at various times and gives various error codes.

I have the following setup

Motherboard: Asus Rampage IV Extreme
CPU: 3930k
RAM: 4x4GB Corsair Dominator GT (I have tried using only one stick during the testing and installation, and have tried all 4 sticks one at a time with the same result)
PSU: Corsair AX1200
Storage: Corsair Force GT 120 GB ( I have 3 but only use one during testing of errors) (And I've tried to install on all 3 drives at various points with the same result)
GFX: ZOTAC GeForce GTX 680 4GB, (But have had the same problems using 2 different Radeon 7970 cards)

At the moment I have the system running on my table so it is easy to modify and the bios have been updated to 4808 or 2105 and they are both running at default settings. ( I have disabled the onboard soundcard and turned up the chipset fan to max.

I've stripped the system down to its essentials, done no overclocking and unless ALL 4 RAM stick are faulty or maybe my CPU is faulty I am at a loss.

Any Ideas or need more info?

Regards
Michael

Where did you find BIOS 4808? Latest I found on ASUS site is 4804. Also, 2105? What is this?

Noticed that you have not tried a different PSU - might try it if you have one handy.

Sorry it was the 4804 Bios I ment. The 2105 is the 2nd Bios.

I've found that I get the Clock_Watchdog_Timeout error the most, although I just got s Critical_Process_Died error aswell.

Finally I havn't a 2nd PSU on hand sadly.

Hi,

Have you crated a bootable CD to run diagnostics on the MB / RAM.. you could start with memtest to stress test the RAM.
MB: ASUS Rampage V Extreme

2 x WD1000DHTZ WD VelociRaptor 1TB Raid 0

Hey,

No I have not made a bootable cd. Any recomendations to what programs I should get for that cd? It would be nice to be able to test Motherboard, RAM and CPU.

You mention memtest, but what else?

Thanks for the replys by the way. 🙂

If i remember there are 2 extra power socket over the CPU A 4 pin and a 6 pin Both must be linked with the PS...

Regards

Maybe there is a BIOS version that is better than the 4804?

Also last crash gave me this error after I installed Win 8.1 64bit UEFI: whea_uncorrectable_error
The OS finished installing. Booted into Windows and then crashed with the above error while still at the the new user interface. I did not do anything after typing in my password.

Thanks for the replys. 🙂

I've now connected Both the 4pin and the 8pin (It was already connected) and also the 6pin for GFX and the odd 4 pin for RAM (EZ Plug 1 and 2)

I've reinstalled and alas I get the same problem again. Tons of crashes...

I've also done a memtest version 4.20 on a single memory stick in slot D1 and I get no errors after two runthroughs.

Finally I've tried to use the SATA 6G_1 port instead of the SATA 6G_E1 I was using for my SSD. Same result sadly.

Any other ideas?

I'm about to give up here. 😞

Spent the past full five days trying to solve this, but it just won't work.

Maybe I should just go ahead, suck it up and buy a new computer... 😞

Anyone else got an idea of what to do?

Anywhere else I can look up help with this problem? I feel I've vacuumed the entier internet already.

This must have been the worst purchase I've ever made. And I was really hoping to prove myself wrong on that count.
