Rampage IV Extreme randomly does not boot

Asus Rampage IV Extreme
Intel i73939K @ 3.2Ghz (No OC)
Kingston DDR3 HyperX Predator 32GB (2x16GB)
Corsair AX 1200i
GeForce 690GTX
Windows 8 pro
Samsung 240 PRO 256gb in RAID 0

So, I bought this board around 8 months ago. The board works perfectly fine and everything is nice and dandy, except for the fact that sometimes after I shut it down completely (powercord still in, so the LEDs on the mainboard are still lit), and I try to turn it on again immediately or sometimes after a while (I use the illuminated red START-button on the board itself), it does not react at all. Fans dont spin up and nothing happens, the LEDs on the board are still lit as you would expect, but they remain unchanged. There is absolutely no reaction whatsoever to me pressing the button. There is also nothing displaying on the diagnosis LEDs, it's just blacked out as it would be when the power is off). This usually lasts a while, then suddenly it will turn on again, sometimes it can take hours and I usually leave it overnight and it works again. What's weird is, I can also unplug a SATA-device to make it work again immediately. I unplugged my old 1TB harddrive on one occasion, and on another I unplugged the DVD-ROM. Then it will immediately work when I press the red START-button. On one occasion, it even started by itself when I unplugging the CD-ROM. When it starts, the fans will spin for 1-2 sec, then they will die for 3-4 seconds, and then they will spin again and the board boots. Which is kind of weird. Also I usually have to go into the BIOS again and put the SATA-configuration back into RAID, because for some reason this setting resets whenever this happens. But if I shut it down again from Windows after I booted it, sometimes it will do the same again and I have to unplug yet another SATA device to make it work. Other times it can work for weeks at a time without this happening. As you can imagine it's extremely annoying because I use this system for work sometimes and I don't have time to wait for hours until the board starts working again. I have no idea how to fix it, I read on another forum that many people have this problem with the RIVE board, who all have similar configurations to mine, see http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/2085336, but they did not reach a solution in that thread. I'm wondering if this is a known problem or what's going on?

Edit: Yet another thread describing a similar problem: http://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?22968-Rampage-4-extreme-not-booting But again no solution was found....

Oh sorry about that, for not replying sooner. http://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?36856-All-Rampage-IV-Extreme-Owner-s-Post-your-time-length-...

That's the thread I made to ask all of you that have the board longer than 6+ months to post there and if you come any problems.

It's just to help in a way to see if there's hope and life left still in this board.

I wonder if this is getting changed up with each upgrades on Bios?

CPU Vcore Boot Up Voltage: Can be left at Auto for normal use. If benchmarking, then setting a lower or higher boot-up voltage for the CPU can aid in ensuring the system POSTs – experiment if experiencing non-POST situations only.

particulary on those that have done overclocks.

I am having almost the same issue as you have, this is an intermittent issue for me. it usually happens during cold weather. at first I thought it was the PSU but then I followed corsairs PSU test and it is working. so I decided to take it all out, insulate the standoff case of the MB I even ground the case to the wall. it works again but this week its been raining again and it is not booting again all I see is the light of the start reset and thebios light 1.

Yeah, that was like that for me also for mine. But then I rolled back to formula and been running fine ever since but when I took the Extreme to where I got it from.

The Vendor that built the system up (Gamedudes) didn't pay close attention on the pins when they were trying to fix it up. Cause apparently the place where I got it from (namely PCCaseGear) they easily notice some the pins were slightly damage and weren't all even and straight.

So apparently they managed to take it up to Asus headquarters to repair the pins and maybe further diagnostics on the board to see if the issue is still there on the board.

I don't know when I get it back, but I hope I hear something soon, they only took the board up to them 2 weeks ago.

I have the same problem. You can see this issue on my videos:

This is my first RIVE.

I send this motherboard to the RMA, and changed for another new RIVE ... and 10 months later, the problem appear:

Two motherboards with the same problem, appear 8-10 months later of use. It suppose that RIVE it's a high component quality for the socket 2011...

is it me or is ur 2nd Rampage IV Extreme on where the chipset fan is, is there dust laying inside of it?'

~The Update of the motherboard I sent for RMA has been updated on another thread that I made but incase your wondering, I got my refund back :3~

Yes, small fans always take a lot of dust and are difficult to clean, so I usually have configured to operate at lower RPM, to prevent condensation of dust.

Sorry for my poor English.

Darn, was hoping to find a fix but all I'm seeing is people RMAing their boards.
Apparently getting boards in return which will also eventually show the problem.
Same situation as others here, board will not always instantly post.
It's also getting worse, it started out with maybe 10 seconds delay before posting now I don't have the patience to wait anymore (10mins+).
Board shows no codes, no message that something is wrong.
If you wait long enough, it will eventually post.
Only draining the board from power will allow it to instantly post (for now).
I was hoping it was the PSU, but apparently I'm not in luck 😞

After reading these posts:
http://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?24247-my-rampage-4-extreme-is-not-poasting&country=&status=
I guess all I can say is that I'm extremely disappointed and will start the RMA procedure as soon as I've ruled out the PSU (to be sure).
