Rampage IV Extreme randomly does not boot

Asus Rampage IV Extreme
Intel i73939K @ 3.2Ghz (No OC)
Kingston DDR3 HyperX Predator 32GB (2x16GB)
Corsair AX 1200i
GeForce 690GTX
Windows 8 pro
Samsung 240 PRO 256gb in RAID 0

So, I bought this board around 8 months ago. The board works perfectly fine and everything is nice and dandy, except for the fact that sometimes after I shut it down completely (powercord still in, so the LEDs on the mainboard are still lit), and I try to turn it on again immediately or sometimes after a while (I use the illuminated red START-button on the board itself), it does not react at all. Fans dont spin up and nothing happens, the LEDs on the board are still lit as you would expect, but they remain unchanged. There is absolutely no reaction whatsoever to me pressing the button. There is also nothing displaying on the diagnosis LEDs, it's just blacked out as it would be when the power is off). This usually lasts a while, then suddenly it will turn on again, sometimes it can take hours and I usually leave it overnight and it works again. What's weird is, I can also unplug a SATA-device to make it work again immediately. I unplugged my old 1TB harddrive on one occasion, and on another I unplugged the DVD-ROM. Then it will immediately work when I press the red START-button. On one occasion, it even started by itself when I unplugging the CD-ROM. When it starts, the fans will spin for 1-2 sec, then they will die for 3-4 seconds, and then they will spin again and the board boots. Which is kind of weird. Also I usually have to go into the BIOS again and put the SATA-configuration back into RAID, because for some reason this setting resets whenever this happens. But if I shut it down again from Windows after I booted it, sometimes it will do the same again and I have to unplug yet another SATA device to make it work. Other times it can work for weeks at a time without this happening. As you can imagine it's extremely annoying because I use this system for work sometimes and I don't have time to wait for hours until the board starts working again. I have no idea how to fix it, I read on another forum that many people have this problem with the RIVE board, who all have similar configurations to mine, see http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/2085336, but they did not reach a solution in that thread. I'm wondering if this is a known problem or what's going on?

Edit: Yet another thread describing a similar problem: http://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?22968-Rampage-4-extreme-not-booting But again no solution was found....

I bet if you were to pull the power from the wall and leave it for a while it will start.

RMA you board and include a detailed description of what is going on or they will boot up and say it is working because the board has been without power during the shipping.

I unplugged it from the socket for 20-30 minutes at one point and even after that it would not boot. Also pressed and held start button while power was unplugged to drain capacitors etc. etc.

Anyways just wondering if this is a known issue that is know by ASUS and will be fixed, or what's going on with that. No point in RMAing the board if it's a fault from ASUS' side

btw HiVizMan, any update to the Rampage IV Extreme Board that you had issues with before when it wouldn't post, I remember you saying that its in headquarters or something though.

Still waiting dude, things are a bit crazy for the folks right now with the new CPUs and all that stuff going on but does not help me or you guys. Short answer is no, I still have one board with me at home that does what the OP board does.

Nah what you are describing is not what I had, the no power fix worked for me.

RMA and get one that is 100% mate.

OK I had this issue some more, the last couple times I've been unplugging it and holding the START-button for 2+ minutes instead of only 20-30 sec like I used, and that seems to do the trick. So that makes me think we actually have the same issue and it restarts after capacitors are drained. I assume this is a fault with all the ASUS boards and not fixable

I don't have that issue, so it definitely doesn't affect "all ASUS boards."
MB: ASUS Rampage IV Black Edition
CPU: Intel Xeon E5-2697 v2 (Cooled by Corsair H100i w/ Noctua NF-F12 fans)
RAM: 64GB G.SKILL RipjawsZ 1600 (10-10-10-30)
GPU: EVGA GeForce GTX Titan X Hybrid
TV Tuners: 2 * Hauppauge HVR-1800
Case: CoolerMaster Cosmos 2

Well the links in OP seem to confirm it's not just me having this issue. Maybe different revisions don't have this issue, or maybe the conditions for it aren't always met. I for one remember that this never happened at my previous address. It actually occured the first time some 4 months ago, and the first time was when I first plugged in the PC at my new address. Initially I feared the worst, but when it magically started the next morning, I did some Google searches and saw several others had the same problem...
