Rampage IV Extreme RAID config in BIOS

I have the 4901 (latest) BIOS on my Rampage IV Extreme mobo. I have a question concerning the BIOS settings for RAID.

If I switch the SATA mode between ACHI and RAID, I then have two choices for RAID: RSTe and IRST.

I am using RAID0 and RAID1 arrays (hard drives) in this system via the Intel controller and I have the IRST v14.8.0.1042 software installed.

Should I be using RSTe or IRST from within the BIOS settings? If I switch from one to the other setting the BIOS says I have to reinstall Windows, so I backed out and didn't save any changes.

Is one mode preferable over the other?

Thank you!
Bill

I use the RSTe and it works fine.
Trim-support in raid was the reason I started using it.

A lot of info you can find here:

Thank you for the response, XIIIIX.

I thought TRIM support was only important when using SSD drives and not hard drives?

I will read up on the thread you quoted. Thanks!
