Rampage IV Extreme mouse and keyboard randomly disconnecting

So, when I'm playing a game, my mouse and keyboard will randomly lose connection for a second, sometimes 5 seconds or longer, and will repeat this process randomly. It could happen 5 time back to back, or just once and it'll be fine until it randomly happens again. Mouse and keyboard are plugged into the USB ports next to the PS2 port. I've tried different USB ports, and it still happens. The mouse is less than a month old and the keyboard I've been using for almost a year without any problems. Also, my wireless USB adapter doesn't randomly disconnect when the mouse and keyboard do. I really don't want to RMA this board because of a USB issue.

Well, I've been playing WoW for the last 30 minutes and haven't noticed it happening. I disabled USB 3.0, Bluetooth and onboard NIC in bios, and removed the Logitech Gaming software. Hopefully it works fine.

Jpump,
Are you on Windows 8?

then seem to be the issue with logitech drivers, I have to reinstall the drivers after doing and major Microsoft "Patch Tuesday" Love.

Hope this help

No, I'm running Windows 7.

I noticed my keyboard disconnected at one point, but not my mouse. I'll have to play some more and pay attention and see if it's still happening.

Still doing it, not nearly as bad though. This is ridiculous.

That sounds heaps like driver issues, if possible I would investigate my Automatic Update list and see when or if any driver updates were done recently. Then I would roll back to the driver version that I know worked. In other words track what changes have happened to your system around about the time you noticed the USB issues.

Yeah, that's what is was for me on Windows 8. It kept having conflicts with between Logitech and Microsoft drivers. I think think Logitech corrected this in their latest setpoint software Version 6.52.74.

I have a Microsoft Joystick, amd a Logitech MX 518 mouse which I've been using from day one with no issues until now. I disconnected the joystick, and all is well. I just can't have the stick and mouse connected at the same time. Can't be a driver issue. Anyone here with any ideas? Thanks guys.

Er why can't it be? Just very curious as to why or how you can be so sure. Have you checked the Automatic Update logs? Are there, or have there been any driver updates since this problem started? The conflict does not have to be located with only the driver of that item. 🙂

If it was a driver issue, why did my mouse and joystick work fine since day one of their install. I've had my RIVE running without that issue for about 6 weeks. There were no driver updates downloaded to my rig. I tried connecting my joystick to the front panel USB port, and now it works fine. Mouse is fine also. None of the USB ports at the rear of my mobo work with the stick and mouse.
