I just removed and replaced the CPU to make sure the seating was good. When I drop the CPU into the socket it has a good feel to it, like it sits down right where it is supposed to. I made sure all four DIMMs were seated good. They appear to be seated adequately. However, DIMM slots A1 and B1 still show as abnormal in the BIOS at Tools/ASUS DRAM SPD Information. And, after booting into windows, CPU-Z said triple channel this time (most of the time it says only double channel). Oh, and BTW, it will not post (or boot) when XMP mode is activated. I think it should since it is a single 32GB kit.

RMA the board? Okay. Does ASUS have any available to send out? A friend of mine has been waiting for sometime now for ASUS to send a new (refurb) motherboard to him. Although, it is not a R4BE he is replacing. It's one of the Sabertooths. He got tired of waiting and bought a new ASRock board.

Edit: I looked around and I don't find where I set up an RMA. Am I supposed to call for an RMA?

Swap the DIMMs that are currently reporting "normal" into the slots that are currently reporting "abnormal" and vice versa. If the reports reverse, then it's the ram that is bad. If the report is the same, then it's the board that is bad.

Easy peasy.

I have swapped them. They have all been in every conceivable combination from one DIMM in the motherboard to all four, switching them all around. One in each of the channels. Only two of the channels (C and/or D) will post, and hence boot. If DIMMs are only in channels A and/or B, the machine will not POST, let alone boot.

I bought it at Newegg back in December (Christmas gift). I don't think they'll let me return it now. Didn't have all the parts until now. I still don't have my main video cards. Those are the last two items. I'm waiting for Maxwell. Right now I use a GTX 750Ti SC (which will be my PhysX card) for tinkering with the motherboard. Maybe by the first of next year something custom will be out (e.g., GTX 880 Classified, or something like that). For now I have another rig I game on while I tinker with this one.

Oh yeah, I found the RMA post in the stickies. I always open my mouth before I look around enough. It does help me find things. Other folks get frustrated with me, though. Please forgive me.

Hello there my friend. Please follow the memtest86+ guide in my sig, this will clear up where or what the issue is. It does look like a RMA sadly but lets make sure what it is that needs to be replaced.
To help us help you - please provide as much information about your system and the problem as possible.

I did follow the Memtest86+ guide in your signature. I tested each DIMM separately in slot D1. All tested good - no errors. However, I did not run them each for days on end. I ran them for two (2) cycles maximum and quit. Then I added another DIMM to slot C1 and ran for two (2) cycles. No errors there either. Then I added a DIMM to slot A1 (one of the abnormal slots) and the system did not detect the DIMM in that slot (i.e., the amount of memory Memtest86+ reported was 16GB with three (3) DIMMs in the board). Memtest86+ could be run, but it may not have been testing the memory in that slot (A1). Then I put a DIMM in slot A1 only, and the system would not post, so Memtest86+ could not be run. Then I put a DIMM in slot B1 only, and the system would not post.

That's where I am now, with a dual channel X79 system (16GB RAM).

What say ye? I already have an RMA number (USPC470199) from Steven T (ptsi_cs1). There's one thing in his email I don't have (or can't find). He says I must include the RMA checklist form with my RMA return. Where is that form. There was not one attached to the RMA email.

Edit: Another question is do I return everything that came with the motherboard or just the motherboard itself?

I still need to know where to find that RMA Checklist Form that I am supposed to include with the RMA package. Please advise.
