Rampage IV Extreme BSOD, unstable only after sleep.

I have seen a couple threads with something similar to this issue (like here), where the system is fairly unstable after coming out of sleep. Most of them point to the RAM being an issue. I have ran tests on my Memory with the result of no errors, but perhaps it is my RAM. I am able to run Prime95 and Intel Burn Tests with no issues on a cold boot or any time the system hasn't been slept prior to testing. Basically it comes out of sleep with no apparent issue and I can do basic stuff like browse the web, watch some youtube vids, transfer files to network share for hours. Then after about 15-30 min of heavier stress (gaming) it will BSOD. :confused:

I never slept my computer before when I had a Corsair Force GT drive running the OS because it never came out of sleep. I am now running a RevoDrive3, which is a PCI-E based SSD with much greater success. But since I've let my computer sleep I've noticed the issue. I am on bios 3101 and thinking of going to bios 3204 to see if it might resolve my issue, or even rolling back to an earlier bios. My hardware is listed in my Signature for those that want to know.

I've tested with no overclock on the CPU. I recall testing with XMP off, but I want to verify that I did that because other have had success setting manual timings for their RAM instead of using XMP profiles. I have scrutinized my OC settings and made a number of adjustments that others have suggested, but to no avail. I can get some screens up of my OC settings if anyone wants to look at them, but if this happens when not OCed I figured it wasn't going to contribute to the resolution if i posted them. I do run a RAM Disk that stores a good chunk of temp data and browser profiles, but I've had no issues with it.

I am ready for some help, any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Hi guys, its my first time actually, never used SLEEP MODE before, some friend of mine asked me to try and here is what I got 🙂 My PC is 100% stable in offset and manual . 12 hours of Prime, 20 LinX, 3DMark, Heaven, etc. This is my first issue since I've build it last summer, donno why I decided to try SLEEP MODE, but anyway, need some advice on how to solve this
When I run with OFFSET, right after coming out from sleep I receive BSOD x101.
When I run with MANUAL voltage, I come out 1st time normal, play, surf the inet, etc. then I put my PC to sleep and on second coming out on desktop I receive some random BSOD's (x0000001 and some other about USB or something)

My default 100% stable OC (been on it since September 2012) works without a hitch 😉

The only fix to this problem that I know of, is running vcore in auto setting. On page 2 of this thread I gave some more info about this RIVE *glitch*.

Then I'll stay away from SLEEP, cause I like offset so much 🙂

I can't remember what I did but you can use both readings and choose the fastest one.

You are able to read the XMP profile settings in the BIOS. You make a note of them and then manually enter them in the bios. It is as simple as that. 🙂

Thanks for the clarification. I was just intrigued by what HalloweenWeed was saying in the beginning of this thread about reading the XMP information from AIDA64, and why he might have thought that was more accurate or useful, (but I guess he has not viewed my question here himself.)

Please can someone here help me, I am having a very similar issue with my setup:

i7 3960X, P9X79 Pro 4005bios version, 4x4Gb Samsung Green Ram @ 2133Mhz

My PC runs fine at stock, and sleep works. However at my overclock of 4.6Ghz @ 1.40v it will not wake up from sleep. Or if it does wake up its incredibly unstable and will BSOD. Not only that, after reboot it is still unstable. I have to cold boot to regain stability.

I have tested my overclock with Prime95 Blend for 4hours without errors, and in day to day use for the last couple of months had no issues while gaming etc.

I have tried using Offset and Manual Vcore, neither help. I have tried disabling C States/Speedstep, this also doesnt resolve the problem. I have tried with Ram at stock too. Ram passes memtest86+ @ stock & 2133Mhz.

I have tried installing Windows 7 fresh on a different HDD and SSD without any effect. I have also tried using the Intel storage driver over the Microsoft driver. Im running ME 8.1 in bios and in Device Manager.

For some reason I can get it to sleep up till around 4.2Ghz. After that speed i can reproduce the problem on every wake from sleep, even if heavily over volted.

If there are BSODs its usually 101 or 9C which to me look like the board is no longer applying the correct Vcore and causing the PC to crash.

What is the problem here?

Reading the thread over, I gave the Auto Vcore a go with LLC at regular.
Tried 4.4Ghz, peak vcore of 1.41v, it went in and out of sleep perfectly.
Then tried 4.6Ghz, it also works! Only downside the peak Vcore is 1.44v. Too much considering its stable at 1.4v.

I cheekily tried a negative 0.005 offset. Now cannot be stable out of sleep anymore =(

It means you need the 1.44v to be stable. 🙂
