With rampage IV extreme (win7 64bit) and Ssd 840 Samsung Pro256GB I have this problem.
Every time that I close completely the system with ups , the number POR recovery Count of Crystaldiskinfo or Magician (S.M.A.R.T.), increases of one unit. This number not increases if I close the system without to remove electric power supply to the mobo. I ask to you if also other members have same my problem.

If you are using Win8 and windows 8 does not actually power down it uses a kind of hybrid sleep thing and not a true power down. I wonder if that is the reason.

No HivizMan, i use win7 64bit. I have tried several types of shutdown, but every time that I remove electric power supply and restart I have I increase.
here you find the explanation: http://www.samsung.com/global/business/semiconductor/minisite/SSD/global/html/about/whitepaper07.htm...
I do not know well if this number indicates really a problem. For this reason I invite all the people who have Samsung 840 pro and a mobo of the series rampage to see if they also have the my same problem.
thanks

It is not an problem that count, it really only tells you that your system did not have any power at all. And that is correct you powered down and removed power.

Not to worry. I have had and used many hundred of Samsung SSD and not one fail to date.

When folks first get a new piece of kit they like to have all the bells and whistles installed. Time passes and they never look at the stuff after the second week. So short answer no, once you have optimised your system you can remove it.
