Rampage iv extreme and sata problem

Hi guys , i had rampage iv extreme mobo , and i just switch my sata cable from 6.0gb slot to 3.0gb slot (red slot to black slot) and after that my cd-rom suddebly cant read , when i click "computer" and i am trying to click my cd-rom , it gaves me the message like windows cant access specific device , file and path and when i plug sata cable back to red sata 6.0gb then it works , can someone tell me what happen , my cd-rom cant work with sata 3.0gb?? thanks

It could just be you have not enabled the SATA ports that you are now using.


Go into your BIOS and see if you have your DVD device picked up by your system. And make sure all your SATA ports are enabled. Pay attention to the ASmedia sata ports too.

hi i have ASmedia enable , but do i have to enable anything besides that? cuz if i switch cable from sata3.0gb to 6.0gb , my dvd-rw works fine , just dont know why dvd-rw cant recognize when switch to 3.0gb sata

You could try uninstalling/re-installing the chipset driver. Are you in ide mode? if so are both controllers enabled? Other option reset CMOS?

i am on ahci mode , u mean cotroller enable ?? what kind the controller??

In IDE mode you can disable controller 0 and 1 but if you are in AHCI mode that option does not show.....so it's not that.....
