Hello, I am installing WinXP pro 64bit

I want to install AHCI drivers so i can leave my Bios SATA Mode on AHCI

I downloaded and copied the Intel RST Raid/SCSI Drivers From ASUS Rampage IV extreme Downloads section.

I then extracted the 64bit drivers to a Floppy and pressed F6 to install when prompted by windows
I am at the F6 prompt to install third Party Raid/SCSI Drivers
The problem is which one do i choose?!

here are the selections:

Intel(R) C600 Series Chipset SATA RAID Controller
Intel(R) ICH7R/DH SATA RAID Controller
Intel(R) ICH7MDH SATA RAID Controller
Intel(R) Desktop/Workstation/Server Express Chipset SATA RAID Controller

Intel(R) C600 Series Chipset SATA AHCI Controller
Intel(R) 5 Series Chipset SATA AHCI Controller
Intel(R) ICH7R/DH SATA AHCI Controller
Intel(R) ICH7M/MDH SATA AHCI Controller
Intel(R) ICH9R/DO/DH SATA AHCI Controller

I just need to know which one to choose thanks

If I recall correctly I believe Intel said they are not making AHCI drivers for XP for the C600 chipset.
Someone please correct me if I'm wrong or there is a way to do this.

Windows XP only allow IDE mode, wont run under AHCI

THis does not make sense as i downloaded this from the windows xp 64bit section of Asus Rampage IV extreme Driver downloads page!

cant i also just integrate it into a CD using Nlite?

when i try to choose C600 Sata Chipset it keeps telling me that iaStor.inf is corrupt

Why would they put this on Asus Rampage IV Extreme motherboard driver download page and specifically say its for winxp64/win764/winVista64bit when its not?

explain

Device Manager > System Devices > Intel C600/X79 series chipset PCI Express Root Port 1 > 8

That's the one to select but,as mentioned above, Intel has refused to provide AHCI drivers for the 'obsolete' (their term) Windows XP (all versions) operating system.

I would assume the drivers you downloaded are NOT certified by Intel for XP.

Ok this is the weirdest, most annoying problem i have ever had after installing WinXP x64 on a system.

I have one hitachi HDD 1TB i have my bios configured as follows:

SATA configuration:

IDE mode

SATA-ATA Controller 0 (enabled)

SATA-ATA Controller 1 (enabled)

I did a fresh install of WindowsXP x64 on the 1TB HDD.
When asked to format the drive i did a full Format.(took 3 hours)

For some reason windows will not boot unless the damn windows XP x64 CD is in the cd-rom drive!
If i choose to boot from the HDD it always tells me to Choose a different type of media to boot from and press enter.
its like windows depends on a file on that CD in order for it to boot.

can anyone explain?

thanks
