Rampage III Extreme will not recognize Kingston SSD via SATA6G or SATA ports

Hello all,

I am stumped. I just bought a Kingston HyperX 3K 240gb SSD (SH103S3) and am trying to install it as my primary drive. I have attempted to connect it via the SATA6G ports and the SATA ports but have not gotten the BIOS to recognize it. Windows disk management does not see it either. I disconnected all drives but the CDROM, even. and had no luck with that either.

I have used the external kit that came with it to connect it via USB to confirm it is functional and have initialized it within Windows disk management. Any suggestions?

If your copy of windows in on a DVD then simply point the application to the OS install disc.

Ok I went out and bought a 64gb USB stick. Downloaded the Windows 7 ISO from Microsoft and installed it to the stick using the utility you suggested.

I disconnected all drives. Connect the SSD to the SATA1 port. Inserted the USB stick into available external USB port. Rebooted system and adjusted BIOS settings. Changed storage configuration from IDE to AHCI. Altered boot priority for USB Flash Drive as primary. Disabled the other two.

The BIOS is still not showing the SSD in the SATA port summary at this point.

F10 to save BIOS settings and reboot.

Windows 7 installation starts up from USB stick. Chose Custom Installation. NO DRIVE is detected or showing present.

Rebooted system and re-entered BIOS settings. SATA port summary is still not showing any drive detected.

I don't know what else I can try, other than returning the SSD to store.

😞

You would need to have installed the OS using the motherboard you want the OS on. Not install the OS on some other motherboard, or how have you managed to install the OS onto the SSD?

I have not yet successfully installed the OS on the SSD. I cannot get the bios to recognize the drive while connected to an internal SATA port. Only when it was connected to an external USB port I was able to access it via disk management and actually confirm its functionality. I have three other mechanical drives I usually have installed and all are recognized by the bios regardless what SATA port they're connected to.

In that case it does seem as your SSD needs to be replaced.

10 years later and i fixed it, this is what you gotta do.

Change to AHCI mode, make the pc recognize usb with win10, install win10 on the SSD. NOW i had to turn of quick boot for it to be able to actually boot from the ssd.

Thank you lord for helping me fix this
