After my PC got the USB over current status error, I reset the machine twice and still the same then it didn't even post. So took the whole thing apart sent it back to Overclockers, reply was very quick from them They gave me an RMA but had to send it back to ASUS . That was over a month ago .

Just a few questions.

1 : What is USB Over current status error, ive researched it, bad ports , usually in the case , but there was nothing I could see . How do you prevent it again?.

2 : Do ASUS usualy take this long and do they tell you what was actually wrong with it?

3 : while sitting with no pc and just a crappy laptop, all ive done is sat looking at the OC site and dribbled at the new items. So bought the new Haf X case, 3x 200mm fans red. fan controller, lots of red braided cables. Fans for a megahalems and fans. New ram. I may as well buy a new board, but I do like the one that's gone for repair, but which one, it has to be red, any ideas?

Thanks in advance, steve.....

Hello Steve

Overclockers are being rather naughty it seems. Here is how it should work. The board is returned to the retailer for RMA, the retailer is responsible for the RMA, and they send the board to the wholesaler for credit. The wholesaler sends it on to ASUS distribution.

Now I have no idea why you have not been sorted out. Please phone them again and see why it is taking so long, and why they needed to send the board on at all.

Post back here with your reply. One of my best mates works for them by the way so it is easy for me to check details and chase stuff up.

They actually said to me , as its over 28 days they had to send it away and could take up to 28 days. This was over a month ago. On OC`s site the RMA portion doesn't work so there is no way of tracking it. Ive tried ringing them between working hours but ive been left on hold for ages with no`one answering. I really like this board , was a shame it did what it did. Im not bitter about it but now its just getting annoying.

I can only think that the delay might be because the board is no longer in production and as such OCUK do not have any stock so they will have to get it from ASUS directly. If that is the case, er good luck.

I would start pushing them and suggesting that they give you another board. Keep us informed as to how things go please.

This was the email OC sent me , I had to read it again. the item ..... on RMA ......has been sent back to manufacturer for repair or replacement. It will be returned to you as soon as we receive it. This item has been sent back to the manufacturer for repair or replacement and it can take up to 28 working days to get back once the manufacturer has replaced it. As soon as it arrives back here you will be notified and it will then be dispatched to you.
Now the email was sent to me on the 17th of June. Is it to early to worry ? Also why would you buy Asus products if they take so long to replace if they fail.

Yeah it is as I suspected, the retailer does not have any stock to replace your board in house. That makes sense as the R3E is end of line and has been for some time. Not sure where ASUS UK will find a R3E to swap out so that only leave replacing the defective part. A part that potentially they would have to order in. While not ideal that is sure because of the logistics of things I can sort of see how this delay can happen. Not agree with it mind you.

I would approach OCUK and ask them to follow up with this as the 28 day period is now over and if they can not replace with the original product they must trade you up to a product that you are happy with. Well that is what I would do if it was up to me.

Today 23rd after many emails OC decided to give me a refund. I was never bitter through all this but now I can upgrade with paying the difference for a Asus Rampage IV Extreme Intel X79 (Socket 2011) DDR3 Motherboard. This a good buy ?

Unfortunately the refund was £57 pound less than what I paid for the board. Don't know why ?

That is also quite normal, the cost of the refund is what the last retail price was. I had a refund offer on a SSD that had died. When I bought the SSD it cost over £200 the refund offer was a whole £68. I took the physical product not the refund.
