Rampage Gene IV - error code AE

Hi,

I'm using a Rampage Gene IV motherboard.
Bought a new Geforce N770 gfx Card.

If I start up the system with my Geforce 560gtx everything works fine. (Meaning nothing is broken)

The first time I installed the 770 my computer got stuck on boot code b2. So after lots of research and reading threads on this forum I assumed it was because of bios firmware that the mobo was not detecting the newer gfx card. So I updated to the latest bios version (4802) doing a bios flash. Now if I boot up the system it gets stuck on code AE. It hangs there for a while then seems to reset and kind of just loops hanging at code AE for the majority of the time.

Did some more reading and decided to try a cmos clear. Then the system gets stuck on code 34. Did a bios flash again to latest version and now it's back to code AE.

I haven't had any output to my monitor since the first time I've installed the 770. Have tested 3 different screens including the 1 I'm using atm on my 2nd computer.

I've also tested the 770 in my friends pc and it worked.

I'm out of ideas, any help on this would be much appreciated.

Please swap out your graphic card to a different PCIe lane and see if the card is working. Do you have all the power connectors fitted to the new VGA?

AE is not a problem and simply telling you that your system is in OS.

I got it working...

Somehow in the process of testing screen, gfx card and motherboard my screen broke.
It was looping and stalling on AE because after I did the BIOS flash it wiped my previous settings so my hard drive wasn't set to IDE mode making windows blue screen. Obviously I couldn't see anything because the screen broke after I switched it back from my other pc (it switches on but doesn't get any signal).

I always have worst luck with these things.
Thanks for the response though, appreciate it!

Your hard drive is set to IDE?

Ah right the defaults are AHCI

AE means handed over to AHCI or OS. All good mate enjoy your system.

You seemed to have fixed your problem.

I'm also a GENE VI owner and I can tell you a new bios update was released 1-17-14. Check it out.

EDIT: Sorry didn't see the Rampage, was thinking Maximus.
