In life there's always something important that needs to be paid for, and a new computer is really never one of those things. But you know how I think about it? I spend an inordinate amount of time working/playing on my computer. It keeps me at home, out of trouble, when I would otherwise be out spending money and getting into all sorts of nonsense. SO, I take the cost of a high end computer build powerful enough to push 1080p blu-ray, max out settings on all of the games I play, and generally smoke any app or task I could throw at it, and then divide that cost by 24 (or 36, if I am willing to schedule my next major upgrade 3 years down the road). The result is the monthly ammortized cost of building a new entertainment hub (re: pc).
When you figure it that way, even a high end build that costs a couple of thousand dollars can actually be quite reasonable compared to, say, going out to dinner and a movie, followed by drinks at your favorite bar several times a week.
Using this logic, the system I just built cost me about $100/month. That's just slightly more than my gym membership, and slightly less than I'd spend going out to a bar/club just twice without a gaming system at home to keep me busy. 😉
The moral of the story is, buy a RIVE -- it's a bargain. lol

lol Thanks, I try. 😉 I'll let you know as soon as I figure out how to justify spending $ on a 4930k + custom watercooling. Still working on that..... 😉
