Rampage 4 Ideas

Hey everyone Im wanting to be a lil more PRO in my choice of computer parts im going to replace my ASUS P6T and getting a Rampage 4. Looking for what the community thinks is the best parts to use with this motherboard. I will be going with a Coolermaster HAF X and using my GeForce 570 or getting a 590 (will onloy use GeForce) wanting to go with an i7 990X if i have the money from my deployment. Plus is the 990X overkill/waste or worth it if I have the cash flow. Im understand most of this will be overkill with some of the titles i play but want to try and build a computer I know wont need much for upgrades for a while. Please give me a hand with full list build want to see what others are looking at and give myself something to compare my ideas to someone who more than likely is more Techy than myself.

Also Im wanting to go with as much RoG equipment as I can but is MATRIX GTX580 P/2DIS/1536MD5
better or worse than getting a 3GB 590

You can't use an i7 990X (1366 Socket CPU) processor on the Rampage IV boards.
Their not the same socket.

The Rampage IV boards is a LGA 2011 socket and IS NOT a LGA 1366 Socket
There are only currently 2 CPUs can can be used with the Rampage IV boards these are:
- i7 3930K ($600) 6 Cores 12 Threads 12MB Cache
- i7 3960X ($1000) 6 Cores 12 Threads 15MB Cache

There will be a cheaper 4 cores 8 Threads CPU due sometime Q1 this year, it should be around the $300 price point, I believe it'll be called the 3920K.

Now if you meant to replace the motherboard with a Rampage III Extreme or the Rampage III Black Edition then sure you can use the 990X, if that was what you meant to ask.

I'm 100% in what your asking. Your saying you want to replace your P6T setup and looking at a Rampage 4, but you want to look at the 990X which isn't even the same socket as the Rampage 4. Which ever is the case the $600 i7 3930K out preforms the older i7 990X which is still a $1000 processor.

I thought of the Rampage 3 Black Ed. also but not sure what route to go. Just looking for build ideas. for the most part I will be replacing almost all my parts in my computer since I will be going from a HAF 932a to a HAF-X want to replace motherboard. upgrade out of my i7 950. Prolly upgade my Geforce 570. RAM. and anything else that sounds good

The Rampage III Black Edition is using the older 1366 socket CPUs.
If you want to get a system upgrade that'll make you notice a gain in preformance you'll want to get yourself a 1155 Sandy Bridge setup like a Maximus Extreme-Z if you're on a budget with a CPU like a i7 2600K (4 Cores 8 threads) is about $290 and the Board is like $350.

The Rampage IV Extreme setup is a lot more, talking about a $600 minimum on the processor if you're going with the 3930K, and the R4E board is another $450-500 depending on where you get it.

Depends on what you want out of your computer. If it's just a gaming computer, what you have should be more than fine. But if you really feel like you need a big upgrade, I would look into either a 1155 setup or a 2011 setup, depending on how much you have to spend. Going with the 2011 setup means more money, most likely you'll need to buy addtional memory. If anything i think a solid state drive is the biggest upgrade anyone can have as well as a video card for the gamer. IVY bridge is suppose to be due late this year, so if you want to wait till late this year to see the new processors and new motherboards, you can wait to see what comes out of that.
