So i have The Crosshair V Formula MB and i got G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 2133 (PC3 17000) Desktop Memory Model F3-17000CL11D-8GBXL. I was wanting to overclock it so i went into the bios and changed it and and it merely gave me a ram error when i tried restarting with the saved settings any sugestions would be greatly appreciated.

By the way it runs fine on auto at 1600 but i would like to get it closer to 2133.

i have got the same kit. 2133 works well.
I had to set CPU/NB voltage to 1.2V (or higher when you increase NB clock speed) and dram/memory voltage to at least 1.55V(default is 1.5V).
I am running the kit at 2183 with dram/memory voltage at 1.61V.
Those two settings should do the trick. Make sure you put the sticks into the two mem slots farthest away from cpu not the closest two.
Set on Auto the kit will set timings to 9-11-11--28-45 T2.
My kit allowed me to set it to T1 too.

I am running a FX 8120 cpu.

I'm running the 2x4GB G.Skill 2133 CL9 RipjawsX set:

9-11-10-28-39 (2T) with the CPU/NB@ 3034MHz.

Memory voltage@ 1.66250v and the CPU/NB voltage@ 1.38750v

and secondly i think im gonna need a little more help than that you guys have been realy helpful in showing me im in a little over head was just hoping i could get it to run at 2133 a little simpler. But if anyone wanted to walk me through it like walking a baby through the yard id be very happy.
