Ram not running at 1600Mhz?

So this is something I've noticed before but paid no mind to it. I have a pair of red corsair vengeance ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820233180 ) which are rated to run at 1600Mhz...yet my sticks are not. Cpu-z shows it at 668.7, am I correct in assuming this just means for the individual sticks since multiplied by two it is pretty close to 1333? Even then how can I get the ram to 1600? Sorry for probably sounding so noobish. I've had the bored for years but haven't done a whole of the technical stuff.

Thanks!

Hi JC531 🙂

Yeah, 1333 is the default for the memory...in order to run it at rated speed you have to set it up using the XMP profile.

have a look here http://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?27272-Memory-Setup-Guide-For-Maximus-V-Motherboards
