RAM Issues

In my BIOS it is only reading 8GB and in my System Properties it tells me that there is... Installed memory (RAM): 16.0GB (7.95GB unusable). And by the way when I use 2 x 4GB sticks it only reading 4GB instead of 8GB. I have tried every combination but, still no luck.

I am using the following componants:
    ASUS Crosshair V Formula Motherboard,
ASUS Radeon HD7970 DirectCU II TOP 3GB,
    16GB (4 x 4GB) of Corsair Dominator GT 2133MHz DDR3 RAM,
    AMD FX-8120 8-Core Processor, and
    Corsair AX750 Gold Power Supply.

Any ideas why this is???

You can be enabled "Memory Hole Remapping" in the bios.

Where can that be done???

Just out of curiosity, are you using 32 bit Windows or 64 bit? 32 bit Windows will not recognize more than 4 GB of RAM.

I had a very simular problem with my 16gig of RAM showing up just like yours. I found that the RAM sticks were no seated COMPLETELY in the board. Sometimes you must use a little force to make sure they are firmly seated

Please do check and see that your ram is correctly seated. All to often we are fooled by the single click, there needs to be even downward pressure when we fit the memory.

If that does not resolve your problem, please just test each stick in the same slot and see if any of your sticks are not being picked up, then pop one working stick of ram into each of the ram slots in turn. That way you will know if your board is picking up the sticks correctly.
To help us help you - please provide as much information about your system and the problem as possible.

Thanks for all your tips etc... I am running a 64bit system, the RAM is seated correctly, it is definitely NOT the RAM at fault as I have tested it in another PC and it reads as 16GB.

I am now waiting for a reply back from where I bought it from, so I can get a refund.

Might have to go with another motherboard brand  I wish Corsair would bring out motherboard, I've no issues with anything Corsair branded.

Have you ensured the RAM is running at the correct voltage? if it is, maybe you should bump it up a notch or two...or bring the Frequency down from 2133 to 1866...just to see what happens.

My friend you go with what works for you. This time round a ROG board did not.

Oh and you are one lucky dude - I have spent way to many hours trying to sort out issues with corsair products on this forum.

Good luck. 🙂
