I installed 2 set Corsair CMT16GX3M4X2133C9 in in all 8 slots. But only 16gb is recognized in windows and in BIOS.
I use some program to check that.....only A1,A2,B1,B2 is running........
I try to remove and restall the ram many time..but the result is same....
Finally I have traced some problem on C2,D1,D2 ram slots.....
If I install the ram in A1,A2,B1,B2,C1......that is ok....20gb is recognized Windows and bios show.
but try to install ram in C2/D1/D2 ram slots.............only 16gb can be recognized in windows and in BIOS

I am sure C1, D2 are working normally...
Before I got 2 set Corsair CMT16GX3M4X2133C9. I install samsung 1333 4G ram *4 in A1,B1,C1,D1.....Evenything is fine.

should i rma my R4E?

Sorry for my poor english.....

I looks like you have faulty ram slots, could you confirm that you have removed and then reseated your CPU please.

Yes that is very good advice indeed. And the reason why a CPU reseat can be very important.

I reseat the cpu, Remove all ram, cable(SATA & POWER), sound cord and vga card.
Then install the cpu, ram, and vga card only........

result is:

in C1 : Success
in D1 : Success
in A2 : Fail to boot
in B2 : Fail to boot
in C2 : Fail to boot
in D2 : Fail to boot

2 Sticks of ram
D1 + B1 : Success
D1 + A1 : Success
A1 + B1 : Success
D1 + C1 : Fail to boot
A1 + C1 : Success
B1 + C1 : Success

3 Sticks of Ram
A1 + B1 + C1 : Success
A1 + B1 + D1 : 8G only
A1 + C1 + D1 : 4G only
B1 + C1 + D1 : 4G only

4 Sticks of ram

I am disappointed with this mainboard. 😞
I send the board to the Asus's Agent in Hong Kong. They help me check the board.
After six days, They told me that they cannot help me, because the board has not any problem.
They install 8*4g "geil" ram on this board. It is working fine. So it is no any problem.
And the CMT16GX3M4X2133C9 is not in the compatible list.

R4E is a one of the most high grade mainboard for gaming and OC.
But it lack of compatibility with high grade OC ram.

It give a very big trouble to me.
I have bought some water block for my mainboard and ram

I don't know what can I do now......:)
No problem on Mainboard. No problem on Ram. No problem on CPU.
what is the problem?

Hang on here.

Your board has been sent in and it works on all slots according to the ASUS office? Did they test with 8GB sticks? Yes or no?

How did they test? Did they send you a report? If they did please PM me a copy.

Do you have any other DDR3 ram you can borrow or go out a buy one stick of really cheap ram. I want you to test each slot again with some other ram. If it is a ram issue and not a board issue the your Ram vendor needs to replace or refund. If it is a board issue we will get it sorted.

I Just send the mb to asus's Hk agent " hornington". They use 8 stick of GEIL 4G RAM to test my board. They told me that my board is working fine on 8 stick of geil 4g rams.
They have not send me any report, just conversation by phone cell.
I Have 4 stick samsung 1333 4g ram. I will give them for testing.
I also want to know can i only install 2 stick ram on c1,d1. OR only install 1 stick ram on a2, b2, c2, d2?

I would like you to test with one stick of ram only.

http://www.memtest.org/ Please only use 4.2 I like to use the USB version.

One stick only.
Start on one side and work in to the CPU and then onto the other and work out away from the CPU

Run at default F5 setting in BIOS.
