I installed 2 set Corsair CMT16GX3M4X2133C9 in in all 8 slots. But only 16gb is recognized in windows and in BIOS.
I use some program to check that.....only A1,A2,B1,B2 is running........
I try to remove and restall the ram many time..but the result is same....
Finally I have traced some problem on C2,D1,D2 ram slots.....
If I install the ram in A1,A2,B1,B2,C1......that is ok....20gb is recognized Windows and bios show.
but try to install ram in C2/D1/D2 ram slots.............only 16gb can be recognized in windows and in BIOS

I am sure C1, D2 are working normally...
Before I got 2 set Corsair CMT16GX3M4X2133C9. I install samsung 1333 4G ram *4 in A1,B1,C1,D1.....Evenything is fine.

should i rma my R4E?

Sorry for my poor english.....

Sounds like that is just not the matching pair which results in the conflict you are seeing (else they may be sold in the set of 8).
Modern Intel processors has the habit to simply disable one or more DRAM slot/channel when it finds any DRAM problems during DRAM training processor at POST, which leads to what has happened to your system now.

The quickest solution is to go back to Corsair and swap them for a full 8 DRAM kit, then you should be able to get it working.
Alternatively, you can try to relax the DRAM timing a bit, or raise the VCCSA to gain a little more margin in the CPU integrated memory controller to give you more chance of using this 2 sets of 4 DIMMs at the same time.

Hope this is the case. Let us know when you try it out!

I have used the 4pin EZ_PLUG.......but cannot solve this problem.......

I try to test each pack of ram separately..... I install it in A1,B2,C1,D1.......only 8G can be recognized:(
If install 3 sticks on A1, B1, C1......total 12G can be recognized.
if install 3 sticks on A1, B1, D1......8G can be recognized.
if install 2 sticks on C1,D1......result fail to boot

two set of this memory has a same result

Remove your CPU and do a full remount.

Then take one stick only and test each memory slot of the motherboard using memtest. Run the ram at both default and XMP profile.

We need to identify which if any ram slots are not functioning. Or at least remove that option from the equation.
To help us help you - please provide as much information about your system and the problem as possible.

I will try this later........

Now, I just can sure my 2 sets of corsair ram do not have any problem. Each stick of ram can pass the memtest86.

I don't think this is a windows issue, as he said its showing the problem in BIOS as well

Ok, had that happen on my x58 sabertooth, some times but only during install of OS dont recall about seeing it in bios so thanks for the feed back. Dam Medic!!!!!!! just got stabed in back.
