R4E sound issues after bios update

since installing the latest bios i have no sound at all.

ive put my bios os back tried each verion still the same, my speaks work in my laptop but what i cant work out is my S/PDIF still works but rest of the ports dont and not even my front case sound works either now.

hes what happened, i was listerning to the internet radio as im from the Uk but now live in Switzerland, so as i do each day stick the radio on via online like most people do im sure. it was working fine for about an hour i was in the other room (windows sound at 50% btw so not loud) and all of a sudden the sound went off and my speaker started going shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh like i had lost reception so i refreshed the page still same changed speakers same and put in a headset still same just the static noise like out of range. tried webpage on laptop it worked, drivers new and installed from fresh clean windows install to see if that works bios changed back and forth still nothing still same result.

my usb/S/PDIF headset works fine no issues at all, but if i plug my speakers in and then my headset my speakers used to auto turn off and put sound to headeset now that doesnt happen there always on making the shhhhhhh noise and either i unplug them to stop the noise or turn sound down, thats no big deal but i dont know why my front case sound now doesnt work either when that used to for old headset.

doing my tree in this is as the restof the mobo is working a treat and all is well int he world for things of gaming and work stuff.

my store i got it from 5 weeks ago says they have to send it back which is 12 weeks they says at best which is BULL and i will be now without a PC after spending 4000 swiss francs or same in dollors and cant use any of it.

any surgestions ?

Have you tried a system restore? This would be the first thing I tried.

It sounds as if your audio driver has been corrupted for some reason.
In the control panel could you have a look at the system devices and check that your audio device is set to the correct device, and that the device if correct is enabled. I would suggest downloading the latest audio drivers and installing those.

LOL none taken mate - sometimes we have to state the obvious because occasionally people forget to do them.

In that case pretty sure you did a BIOS flash too. 😄

Spoony you have only flashed the one BIOS chip right?

So the other BIOS chip should be still on the older BIOS that worked. Mate please just reboot and swap over to the older BIOS and see if the problem goes away.

Cheers

sure no problem.

what i cant understand is in the sound manager it used to show if i unplugged or plugged into the back of the pc, now it says i have nothing plugged it but i do and the ONLY one it shows a change for is the S/PDIF so something is working but not all n that doesnt add up.

ALL my gear works in other pc's or laptops so its not them mobo is fine just for this issue n it just doesnt wanna play ball

The connector to the front of case have you reseated that and made sure it is firmly seated. This has got me puzzled I must say.

I wonder if you feel like doing a fresh install of OS? 😄 😄
