R4BE Bios problem??

Just been messing with some different ram and noticed that its running in tripple channel mode but with 16GB available (4x4) and channel A1 is showing abnormal, so i switched round the sticks and it still shows as A1 abnormal, so at this point i was thinking that A1 has somehow broke. Switched to bios chip 2 which is still on 0403 and booted to windows and its now in quad, phew!! so then switched back to bios chip 1 and back to windows and thats showing tripple so i presume the bios is corrupt?? went to flash with 801 and it says that it is not a UEFI bios/file, now what can i do???

How were you trying to flash? I would use BIOS flashback method not EZ flash for example...and make sure the pendrive is fully clean http://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?46802-please-i-need-help-with-Rampage-Extreme-iv&p=398383&v...

Also 0801 is a beta BIOS with something very specific memory wise in mind...

thanks arne, yes with EZ flash, i'll try the flashback method now

Cool beans!!

hehe yeah...know what you mean...once you start doing mad stuff to your board you will always be wondering... but liquid tape isn't going to hurt you unless you get it in ram slots or PCIe slots I guess.

everything works fine on the board since spraying, just hope that i never need to rma as i'm sure it will be a pain getting off, think most paint it on thick, don't they, to make removal easier??
also snapped the heatpipe trying to remove it from the I/O sheild 😞 ASUS will love me if it ever has to be returned!!

Oh dear! how? does it not all come off as one piece?

The thick layer of tape makes sense...the more you have the easier it will be to pull off...

My wife suggested that you use a hammer. Please tell me you did not use the hammer?

What very specific memory thing?
