R3E - Bios flash/re-flash help needed!

Alright, so here's my issue;

I had to change my cpu because the one i was using previously overheated because i cheaped out and used the stock heatsink that came with it. Already one of my bios’s ended up being defective or bricked by myself during the first installation process which i'm not even sure how; I installed all my components the first time it refused to post until i changed to the second bios. Which at the time didn't bother me because i never thought i’d have an issue that would cause the bios to get messed up.

That is until, like i had mentioned previously i had to install a new cpu and heatsink.

Long story short; after installing the new cpu it was having the same issues as the first time, so i tried switching bios and now both wont post.

I tried downloading the latest bios updated off the website, changed the name of the file and plugged it into the rog connect plug… refused to update

So i tried to completely clean the usb drive using diskpart, re-tried and nothing
Tried a bunch of older bios’s too but those didn't work either because i think asus prevents you from downgrading

I even went as far as to grab my laptop and use the rog connect wire to see if i can do it using the RC TweakIt application which looked promising seeing that it established a connection just fine and was able to execute smaller tasks like switch the bios without a problem, but then went it came time to tell it to re-flash the bios, it says that it failed!

Is there a way to downgrade the bios without having it post first?!? Or any other way to re-flash the lastest bios so I don't have to go out and buy a new mobo too?! Or would it be just easier to buy a new bios online and just replace it myself

Hi figgueh

Welcome to the ROG forum.

Format a usb flash drive to FAT32, extract the bios file to your usb flash drive and rename the bios file to R3E.CAP

Insert it into the ROG connect port and press and hold the bios flashback button for 3-5 seconds until the bios light starts flashing, the bios chip light slowly gets faster and faster, when it stops the bios flash has completed.

Here is a guide you can follow.
