QCode "00" on a Maximus VI Impact motherboard

Hello all,

I finished the build of my miniITX RIG 2 days ago. The config is:

CPU: i7 4770K
Mobo: Asus Maximus VI Impact
RAM: 2 x 4GB Corsair Dominator Platinum 2400MHz CL9
PSU: Seasonic 850W Gold Full Modular
VGA: EVGA GTX 780 3GB Classified
SSD: Samsung 840 Series 500GB
HDD: Seagate Barracuda 3TB

But at the first start, the motherboard powered up, light the leds up, spin the fans and less than a second latter, it shutted off. The qcode was showing "00".

So I started to verify every component. I uninstalled VGA, SSD and HDD. Didn't work.

Then I removed 1 stick of memory, and tested just 1 stick in each slot. Didn't work too.

After that, I removed the 8-pin CPU power cable from the motherboard. The motherboard powered up and stays on, but nothing else happens (ok, this is normal because 8-pin must be plugged in order to work).

Then I realize the problem was on 8-pin CPU power connector, because if I plug it, the mobo doesn't work. I tought that the problem was my PSU or the cable, but I also tested with a Corsair AX1200 and a Lepa 1600W and the problem persisted.

Any clues about my problem?

PS: I'm from Brazil, and I bought this motherboard new from overseas. So, I can't RMA this board because Asus only accept RMA for the products purchased here in Brazil.

I can't think that I spent 250 usd on a faulty motherboard and I can't RMA it.... 😞

I'm a little scared about so much similar cases here on ROG forums.

Any clues?

Sorry about my english.

Thanks.

Hey my friend I really do not know what to say. You will need to find someone with the same CPU type as yours and see if it is the board or the CPU that is dead.
To help us help you - please provide as much information about your system and the problem as possible.

Hi high_tension,

I see you have done almost everything to find the issue origin and i can only think of 2 more things at moment:
- remove the bios battery for about 1 hour and after putting it again, clear cmos.
- uninstall CPU and inspect for bend or damaged (hope not) pins. Perhaps a bad contact that prevents booting.

Good luck

Hi all,

Thanks for everyone who tried to help me.

This weekend I disassembled all my config and mount all over again. But this time I didn't use the watercooler Seidon 120XL, I decided to use the Intel cooler box.

And finally, IT WORKS !!

I suspect the problem was on the Seidon 120XL backplate. Maybe it was too tightened and was doing too much pressure on the back of the socket.

I reinstalled the Seidon on the board again, but this time I tightened the screw very smoothly.

Everything is fine now!!

Thanks again guys!
