Hi everyone! Hope I posted this in the right place!

I have been having issues with my first ever build. Below are the specs:

  • CPU: Intel Core i7 4770K 3.5GHz Socket 1150
  • Motherboard: Asus Z87-Pro
  • Chassis: BitFenix Merc Alpha
  • HDD: WD Blue WD10EZEX 64MB 1TB
  • RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws X DDR3 PC12800/1600MHz CL10 8GB
  • CPU cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo
  • Grahics card: EVGA GeForce GTX 660 SC HDMI DisplayPort Dual-DVI 2GB
  • Optical Drive: LG GH24NSB0
  • Power supply unit: Corsair CX600M 600W

My problems are:

When I boot up, there is no audible beep.

The screen does not show anything - I have checked with another PC to make sure it is working, which it is. I am using a VGR connection to the motherboard's output.

I have tried using the MemOK! button to boot, and I get a Q code - A2. The BOOT_DEVICE_LED lights up and stays red when I do this also.

This is my first build and I have very little understanding of what I am doing.

@COLDSTATIC: Which memory were you referring to?

@Nate152: Unfortunately I don't - I only have a DVI-VGR adapter, and have heard that you can run into issues trying to use those with these kkinds of problems?

If your means of displaying graphics is not compatible with the default resolution of the bios you will not have a picture. A2 is not an issue at all.
To help us help you - please provide as much information about your system and the problem as possible.
