Q-Code 50 Help

Hello,

I purchased all of the below a little while ago and am just getting around to getting it all installed. When trying to boot, I am getting Q-Code 50, which I understand to be a memory error. I used the ROG Connect to upgrade my BIOS to 1403 in hope this would help. However, I am still getting the error. Here is what I have:

HAF 932 Advanced
Rosewill RBR1000-M 1000W PSU
ASUS Croshair V Fromula-Z (1403)
NZXT Kraken X40
AMD FX-8120 Zambezi 3.1GHz Socket AM3+
G.SKILL Trident X Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 2400 (PC3 19200)
MSI GTX 660
eVGA GTX 660
OCZ Vertx 4 128GB SSD
Samsung 840 Series 120GB SSD

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Ok first off what speed are you trying to run that memory at? And then also which slots? Thanks.

Actually, it turns out the memory wasn't seated correctly (not pushed down all the way). I got it to pass POST then went into BIOS. Memory is capable of 2400 but was only running at 1333. When I changed to 2400, and rebooted, I now get error code 05 (which I don't see in the book).

Memory is in bank A1 and A2.

You won't get 2400MHz speed from the memory as plug n' play. That speed will take some serious tweaking of both board voltages and timings assuming the IMC is even capable of this speed. I would suggest starting lower as lewybear has wrote above.

Did you change the timings aswell? I would say that the chips can be funny at the 2400 peak some do some don't try 1866 for a bit see if there's any probs.

Yup...forgot to change the timing. First time using this mobo and this type of BIOS so I'm still learning where to make all of the needed changes :).

Updated timing and voltage and it boots. Now on with the Windows install.

It can be a bit of a challenge to get 2400MHz with Bulldozer but it is certainly possible. Do you have good airflow over your memory as the sticks do get quite warm I found when I was writing a Bulldozer OC guide.

It is worth doing even if only to have accomplished it.
