PSU motherboard connection installation...

OK, so I got a new PSU and I'm installing it right now but have a question about the motherboard connection. My old PSU had a mobo connection that took up all the pins but the new PSU leaves 6 pins not used. Am I just supposed to leave the 6 pins unused?
