The R3BE is a triple channel board.
I personally used Corsair Vengeance 1600mhz 1.5V RAM.
6 sticks of 4GB dimms.
MB: ASUS Rampage IV Black Edition
CPU: Intel Xeon E5-2697 v2 (Cooled by Corsair H100i w/ Noctua NF-F12 fans)
RAM: 64GB G.SKILL RipjawsZ 1600 (10-10-10-30)
GPU: EVGA GeForce GTX Titan X Hybrid
TV Tuners: 2 * Hauppauge HVR-1800
Case: CoolerMaster Cosmos 2

Yes, you need a triple channel kit. You can start with checking the QVL... (http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/Intel_Socket_1366/Rampage_III_Black_Edition/#MSL) the Corsair Dominator GT series would be a great choice...

I see. my supplier asked me to go for quad channel but use only 3 for my board as the price for triple channel and quad is basically the same now. So can i do that? or is best for me to stick for the triple channel kit?

Well, theoretically you could do that... Practically you would waste money... and it's not 100% that would work...

Are you planning to switch in the near future into a quad channel board?

If not, then I would stick with the triple channel kit for that board...

as far as i was told, there is no difference between a quad channel kit and a triple channel kit. the physical difference is one comes with 4 sticks, other comes with 3. and they told me the only real performance difference comes from the motherboard u put it in, whether its triple or quad channel.

im running a R4E, and im using 2 dual channel kits and i dont see any lack of performance in any way.

i could be wrong.

Well, you're lucky running two dual channel kits on the RIVE... there are a lot of people having problems with that...

The safest way to choose a memory kit for a mobo is to choose it from the QVL. That's not meaning that others would not work, they just can not be suggested with 100% confidence... - that's it

So, if you want to try, go with the quad channel kit for the Rampage III Extreme too... who knows?... you may be as lucky as with the RIVE...

All what I tried to say is that you're wasting money since you won't use one stick; and if i would be you, I would go with a triple channel one from the QVL. 🙂

Hi there 🙂

There is a difference between the quad and triple channel kit. Kits are binned together to work together. All four sticks are binned together in the quad and guaranteed to work together. If you take two triple channel kits and take 3 from one and one from the other you do not have a quad channel kit! The fact you have got away with running two dual channel kits together is luck and/or a strong IMC.

The thinking behind the advice you recieved was semi-sound. You can take 3 modules from a quad channel kit and they will work as a triple channel kit but you might have to make some adjustments to XMP values etc. Later you could use the quad channel in the future or run the kit as two dual channel kits. However it is probably best to buy for what you want to run now. The corsair dominator line ran well on x58. The future will bring better, higher frequencies, faster, DDR4 etc.

thank you all brothers. Really appreciate all your feedbacks. I think i will go for Triple Channel Kit then 🙂
