Hey folks,
I recently built my system, and have the Maximus IV Extreme mobo.
The memory I use is the following: CORSAIR XMS3 8GB (4 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800)
When my friend who helped me build the system and I first booted up and went to the BIOS, the memory frequency was set to 1,333MHz and the DRAM voltage was set to 1.488V.
He changed the mem freq to 1,600 and the DRAM vol to 1.65, to match my Corsair memory.
We had no problems booting and the mobo applied these changes.
Tonight I swapped out a few hard drives and when I booted up the settings were back to 1,333 and 1.488.
I switched them back to 1,600 and and 1.65, saved and rebooted, but the computer won't boot into Windows- stayed stuck on a blinking cursor on a black screen.
I checked the boot order and it hasn't changed- still booting into my Windows install disk first. Plus, pressing F5 in BIOS extreme settings to apply default settings results in a successful bootup.
I would like to reapply these memory settings though, so I can be making full use of my Corsair memory settings.
Are there any other BIOS tweaks I'm overlooking here, or anything else I can do? My friend is out of ideas and unable to stop by and help b/c he's highly allergic to my girlfriend's cat. 🙂
PS- Here are my system specs, in case any folks have any other BIOS configuration suggestions:
