problem with windows startup

Hi all

To cut a long story short i basically updated the AI SUite (dont ask), and in doing so something went wrong and now when i start up the computer wont do anything for a good 2 or 3 mins. Before it was instant, so i know somethings not right

When i was updating the AI Suite, i hit cancel and i think thats where the problems started. Anyway after that i downloaded the most recent AI Suite, and installed it - which works fine no issues, except when i start up the computer. When i get into windows i cant do anything for about 3 mins. I have noticed that it works fine when the internet connection is established. And thats where the problem is i think? Could i have deleted or corrupted a driver maybe? Heres a pic to show you what the connection bar looks like when i start up, its like this for a ling time and i literally cant do anything until it finds a connection. Weird

Maybe i just messed it up and nned to do fresh install? maybe someone can help me? many thanks

it happened to me once, rebooted and it was fine but i didn't update the program despite seeing the warnings that my motherboard was at
-50c and cpu vcore at 0v. lol no biggy, anyway...

boot into safe mode and either uninstall it completely or go to start, run, type in msconfig and then on the startup tab disable the prog from running. apply, exit, reboot. see if the problem still exists. the internet connection icon will do that when theres something else in the queue that needs to be loaded... and hasn't yet. so you'll see the icon but theres no connection until the system has arrived at the point of requesting ip/dns information from your router/modem.

as for avg, i have no experience with it. just comodo and kaspersky. though you may wish to go into the settings to see if something has been blocked from running.

hope this helps

hi many thanks. I did un install it completely and then re install Ai Suite, but i dont think thats the problem. I tried dissabling it at start up too and still no luck. Its weird cuz before it was fairly instant, a few seconds and it was connected, now its like 3 mins. also i tried system restore, but unfortunately it wont go back far eneough cuz i stupidly deleted a load of restore points..

looked in event viewer and see this - dunno if this is the problem

have you tried ctrl alt del just after the welcome screen to get a task manager up and running? maybe it will tell you by means of resource allocation on the processes tab which process is causing this delay.

i won't knock a decent registry integrity scan or quick chkdsk either, however if the only changes you've made to the system have been stated, it is most likely a conflict between 2 versions of the same app or something else failing to load.

you could always visit device manager in safe mode and do an uninstall of the NIC drivers, reboot and let windows reinitialize the same driver in the driver cache. if things are still awry we'll take it from there.

Hi

I had this the other day and it was caused by the asus fan profiler service. Set it to delayed start or disable it in services as this is holding up the rest of the boot process.

Well that was what it was for me.

Hope that works.

Yes that's correct, with the new AI Suite II there's an issue with the ASUS Fan Control Service. As of current (correct if wrong) there is no actually fix to this issue besides disabling the service or assigning it a delayed start.

However this issue is known to ASUS and they will be addressing it in the next update!
