Problem with sleep rampage extreme iv

Hello,

I am having a problem with long term sleep on my computer. When i put the computer to sleep and wake it up in a few minutes it works fine but if i leave it in sleep over night it freezes when woken up.
I have checked the following:

1. Memory test was fine.
2. updated bios
3. Updated all drivers
4. Computer works fine otherwise.
5. I have tried both regular setting and overclocked with same results.
6. i am using memory from qualified list.
7. Error code after sleep freeze is overclocking failed

I know windows 7 has a lot of problems with sleep but is there a way to check if anything else is wrong? I have tryed everything on the OS side. My last thing will just be to turn sleep off.

Can any one suggest anything?

Thank you

Here are two threads with very good information on solving sleep issues:

http://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?9621-Cold-boot-with-R4E-and-Sleep-issues&highlight=sleep

http://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?10051-RIVE-No-boot-from-sleep-mode/page3

Please read through these and see if anyhting in there helps. Post back your results.

Could you please indicate if your system is over clocked at all?
To help us help you - please provide as much information about your system and the problem as possible.

I tried both overclocked and not with same results until i followed this thread
http://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?10288-Working-config-for-BIOS-1101-Intel-3930K-CPU-32GB-GSk...

The only thing i did different is i looked up my ram setting and used them.

Thank you for you help.

Thank you for reporting back. And again RAM rears its head.

Folks please understand that your ram is critical with the X79 platform and if you are going to overclock (as 99%) will make sure it is rock solid. Most X79 stability problems and that includes things like wake and sleep issues can be traced back to the ram.

Again thanks for reporting back. 🙂

Cheers

Hi guys,

got exactly the same prob over here and tried every possbile solution and links you already provided.

Basically it comes down to the dynamic multiplier / trubo boost.
Whenever I send the PC 1st time to sleep and wake it up the multiplier locks at 12x.
I have to reboot to solve it.

And this happens absolutely independent from any RAM settings....

Do yu guys have *any* idea how to fix it, so that the CPU can dynamically change its multiplier again?

Regards

Magnus

I've also had instability problems coming out of sleep... although I never really knew why. I just stopped sleeping the computer.

My other issue is with the computer waking up from sleep without me doing anything. My guess is that it possibly has to do with the mouse ... is there any way to stop USB devices from waking the computer?

Hi there,

no one?
I cant believe it that I'm the only one with this prob?
Or is no one using S3 Standby when OC'ing?

Strange.....

Hello Magnus, its not that no one has the problem it is just the fact that this thread was resolved, OP issue was fixed. And if a thread is dealt with I and others tend not to revisit the thread again.

So I do apologise for your question being lost in the shuffle, may I suggest that you start your own thread please. Clearly your issue is different from the OP and as such deserves its own thread. 🙂
