Problem with installation on my Maximus VII Hero.

This is not Hero specific, but here is what happened. I installed Windows 7 Pro on an SSD with NO other SSD's or HDD connected. Only the ONE SSD was connected. Installation went fine, and the SSD showed up as DISK 0, but when I then connected a second HHD, the SSD with Windows 7 installed on, which was Disk 0, was now Disk 1, and the second HDD was Disk 0. Is this a problem, and how can I fix this? Thank you all in advance.

Hello

I assume your system is still booting/working without issue. If so there is no problem and thus nothing to fix.

It sounds like you plugged the ssd into sata port 2 and the other drive into sata port 1. Just unplug the cable from the second drive and plug it into the ssd. Problem solved. Also, go into the uefi after doing this, load optimized defaults and then remake any changes you had in the uefi and press F10 and save them.

PS. I just received my Maximus VIII Hero from Newegg today. My new build will be done by sometime after new years. On disability, so I can't splurge on too many parts at once. It'll be nice when I'm done, though. It's gonna have a Core i7 6700K, Corsair H110i GTX in push/pull, a Samsung 500gb. M.2 ssd for Windows 10 Pro x64, my current blu-ray burner, Seagate Barracuda 3.0tb., 32gb's of G-Skill DDR4 3000 ram, Bitfenix led fans for everything, Bitfenix led strips and a Cooler Master 932 Advanced case. Oh, I almost forgot about the 2 EVGA GeForce GTX 970 4.0gb. SuperClocked video cards.
The ram, ssd, cpu, heatsink, video cards, case fans/led strips and case will probably take until February or March to have it all.
Then once that's done, it will be time to get a ips or better monitor to replace my 6 year old View Sonic led monitor.
