Problem booting after resetting system

Hi, I just built a new rig and am experiencing a strange problem. Whenever I go to reboot my computer, it just completely shuts off without turning back on. When I press power to manually turn it back on, it powers on for a couple seconds (the fans and such) then powers itself off (before I get video display or anything). The only way I can fix it is by pressing the Q_Reset switch, then turning the computer on and it boots fine.

This happens everytime I boot, so I have to open my case up and press the Q_reset switch just to turn my computer on. I don't have a great understanding of these things, but do you guys have any idea what could be causing this, and how I could fix it? I tried searching for others with this problem and found nothing. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Here are my basic specs:

ASUS Maximus IV Extreme-Z
Intel Core i5-2500K
EVGA GeForce GTX 560
Corsair Force Series GT SSD 120gb
ZALMAN CNPS9500 AT 2 Ball CPU Cooling Fan/Heatsink
Corsair Vengeance Blu 8 GB PC3-12800 1600mHz DDR3 240-Pin SDRAM

Hello my friend that is a pretty strange problem you are having.

Could you do the following for me.

F5 enter
F10 enter

Run your system and see if it repeats.

If the problems are still there, then ...

Back into BIOS navigate to the Tools section and use EXflash2 and flash to the latest BIOS.

Remember to use a FAT formatted USB drive.

Cheers

I tried F5 and F10 and flashed to the latest BIOS but the problem persists.

I think this bit of information might be key, I dunno tho. When I first turned the computer on after putting it together (before loading an OS or anything), a message came up just after the initial ROG logo comes on that said something along the lines of "Your processor is not configured, would you like to configure it now? Press ____" (some key that I forget). There was a cable that was interfering with one of my fans so instead of configuring it I powered the computer off to remove the cable obstructing the fan. When I turned it back on, I started having this problem and have had it since (and that message never came back about configuring the CPU). So I wonder if it somehow got improperly configured? Doesn't the Q-reset switch remove the CPU from a frozen state?

When I tell my comp to reset, it powers down completely, but when I press Q-reset it immediately boots up, I don't have to press the power on the case or anything. I press Q-reset and it's like I pressed the power button It's like it's just lingering waiting for that Q-reset button to get hit and then continues on it's Reset path.

That is a first for me. I would suggest you upgrade your BIOS to the new 3 series of BIOS. The microcode will be completely overwritten.
