should technically be able to work.

question:
are you powering up a lot of stuff in your cpu?
have you used a PSU calculator to see if your 800 is adequate to power all your stuff?
no siggy, saw stuff that made me sad.

no.. i haven't.. but i "Should" be more than fine... i have the following

8350
Noctua NH-U12S ( soon to try Corsair H100i )
8 total fans
32 GB Ram
ASUS GTX 780Ti DirectCUII

i can't imagine im even drawing 600w...I'd be surprised if at full load i was pulling 550.. maybe wrong tho...

where would i find a PSU Calc?

thanks

by the way, this must be more than coincidence.
my Seidon 120XL just recently died on me, so i had to use the Noctua NH-U12S (exactly like your model) temporarily, while i find enough motivation to start the RMA process.

speaking from experience here. my AMD 8350 is hot. the seidon 120XL could just about enough contain it (with nearly no overclock by the way, with the tiny exception of pushing the memory frequency to DDR3 2400 MHz).

i nearly skipped a heartbeat to find the radiator pump dying on me (in which, the CH5FZ failsafe features kicked in and force shutdown-ed my computer - thank goodness!) so no permanent harm is done.

the Noctua NH-U12S (current temporary replacement cooler), cannot contain the heat effectively. i did folding@home whenever the the computer is on back then when using the seidon. with the noctua however, it reached 76 C, prompting me to halt any folding for now till i get back the replacement parts. i had to turn on the air conditioning in my room if i were to do some serious folding / gaming.

when overclocking, it's mostly about containing the heat while reaching a stable condition, usable 24/7.
so, if you're planning to Overclock your 8350, i'd suggest you wait until you get yourself the H100i.

^ either that, or hover over my original post above (hint: it's already hyperlinked 😛 ).

and looks like we have someone watching teksyndicate here, too.

I saw that in the video and I had absolutely no choice. While I would never actually paste a heat spreader like that, the level of awesome that is that paste pattern must not be lost to time and/or YouTube.

lol.. yeah..i realized that AFTER i asked.. i used them both.. and yeah.. im more than fine for power. If i do decide to SLI in the future, i'll need to get a 1200w.

Get that one rather. And have two separate rails powering your EPS 12V CPU socket.
