Positive ASUS RMA Experience

Hello fellow ROG'ers

So lately I've been reading alot about various RMA experiences concerning ASUS. Yes the majority of them have been negative, but that's mostly what you hear because of the fact of being pissed off that yes you paid top dollar for something that is supposed to be of top grade. I am not blaming anyone on doing this since I have done this myself:mad:
I would like to share my RMA experience with you all concerning the ASUS VG236HE monitor. So after alot of reading about various monitors & being skeptical of which brand to buy I figured I stick with ASUS since I have the Rampage IV Extreme & haven't had a single problem with it (I had originally purchased the ASUS P9X79 Deluxe which was a DOA which was exchanged at the retailer next day, & yeah at that point I thought quality control wasn't that great, but decided to stay with ASUS).
Now back to the monitor..... after 2 months of enjoying my monitor, one day I turn it on & after a few minutes I get a green line running from top to bottom on my right side of the screen & also a white line running from left to right. I thought this couldn't be so I turned it off in hopes that when I turn it back on it wouldn't be there............surprise it was still there!:mad::mad:
Since I was a member of the ASUS VIP I quickly went on the website & opened up an RMA case. The following day I received a call from ASUS & I spoke with a tech explaining the problem. He immediately told me that it was not fixable like a pixel issue so therefore I would have to send it in for an exchange. I asked if it was possible to get an advanced RMA (they send you the new product first & then you send the faulty one back obviously a credit card is needed to put a hold on the amount of a new one) in which he told me it would not be a problem.
So 3 days later I receive an email from ASUS RMA department saying that they don't have any of the same monitors in stock due to them being discontinued so they asked me if I would accept an exchange for the VG278HE! :):D;) of course I jumped on it like a fat kid on cake!!!! 2 days later I received a brand new (not refurb) VG278HE with a letter instructing me to keep mine as well for 5 days just to make sure there aren't any defects with the new one, and to use the box to reship mine with prepaid postage as well.
Yes I was pissed when it happened to me & started having my doubts, but due to the awesome customer service experience I had, YES I still do recommend ASUS to all my friends & all the customers I build computers for. Everyone deserves a chance of making things right in a wrong situation. Stay calm have faith!

I two have had two recent positive RMA exp. with ASUS. But one did not start out that way. I just got a email that ASUS has reversed their decision denying me warranty service on my RAMPAGE III EXTREME and that the fault caused the Intel i7 980x failure. They are going to ship me a RAMPAGE IV EXTREME and Intel Core i7-3970X since my old CPU was out of production.

The second concerns my P8Z68v-PRO Gen3 that would not start. They found a fault in the board that cannot be repaired. Since it was under warranty I was given the option of a upgrade or refurbed replacement. I choose the upgrade to a P8Z77-V PRO/THUNDERBOLT for a fair fee. Considerably less than a new motherboard costs. The service manager said that they normally don't do this but he was not happy about the treatment that I got on the R3E board. So there are good people at ASUS Tech Support. I will once again hosting lan parties soon. With four house systems and room for dozen guests we can have some good times. And last time some people actually put money in the coffee can to help pay for the electric bill.

@Jericho - I second everthing Nodens said.

Further, I have read the forum with great interest the last few years. I pay especially close attention to
RMA's that find there way here. I can tell you with very few exceptions these issues get resolved.
They may not always be in as timely a manner as some expect but patience and reason win the day.
It is not like these boards are extreme limited editions, 1000's of happy ROG'r's are never heard from.
The ones with no issues rarely find 'here', sad to say.c.

Still unsure why a Asus monitor RMA thread is in the Rampage Series Motherboard section? Or am I missing something? Other than a RIVE of course.

"Also as far as I know all ASUS product RMAs are handled the same way, depending on the region. So the only difference is what country you're in and who handles/how it gets handled for your specific region. "

Does that mean to say that RMA service is directly specific to region, that one region may be dealt with in a complete different way to another?

I believe that the OP wanted to share a success story after reading a couple of horror ones lately here. Not sure if there's a better place for this in order to move the thread.

Yes, that's exactly what it means. There are different laws for each region and there are different ASUS partners and/or regional branches etc

The reason why i decided to place it in this thread is because the Rampage IV Extreme was my introduction to this forum & the reason why I am a member of this forum. Also because of this board's excellent craftsmanship (at least the one I have) is what has made me admire ASUS products more. I have the following:
Xonar Essence STX
RT-N66U Dual-Band Wireless-N900 Gigabit Router
RAMPAGE IV EXTREME
VG278HE

To everyone else, Thank you for taking the time to look over this thread. Just wanted to uplift peoples spirits when things seem to going wrong.
One of the main reasons I am happy & proud to own a Rampage IV Extreme motherboard is due to this Forum. You have THE BEST moderators here always willing to help from the simplest problem to the most complex. They are awesome & always willing to guide you every step of the way. To all the Moderators here I give props & thanks for your patience with us.............GOD BLESS!
