PC won't shut down properly

Hi folks,
having a bit of a strange issue with my Asus Maximus VI Hero motherboard - it won't shut down properly. When I click on shutdown in windows it closes everything, shuts down out of windows OK, and the monitor goes on standby. However, the power button is still lit up and it does either one of 2 things:
1) restarts the computer back to the windows logon screen
2) power light stays on, cpu fan spins, but does not boot.

I thought this was something to do with some sort of Wake-on-LAN but there's nothing I could find in the BIOS or windows (after disabling the "magic packet" settings for the intel LAN adaptor). As a test I also removed the LAN cable, shut down, and it still did that.

PC
Asus Maximus Hero VI BIOS rev 0804.
Gigabyte GTX 770 2gb
2 x 4gb Patriot RAM
BeQuiet Powerzone 850w PSU
Windows 7 64bit
1 x BenQ XL2411T, 1 x Samsung Syncmaster 215tw monitor

Once it's in windows itself there don't appear to be any issues at all with things - no crashes *touch wood*, runs games well, pretty quiet operation using stock CPU cooler.

Having had issues with a previous mobo (I had a Gigabyte board before this, but heard good things about the Hero VI), it's made me a little nervous about flashing the BIOS if it can be avoided. Though reading a few threads on this forum, I definitely won't be using the Windows based option in AI Suite 3 - it also tells me the latest version is 0903 but the website says 1102 is the latest release.

Any suggestions as to what this is?

Hello there, if you have installed Intel IRST please do remove it, or find an older version and after removing your current version install the older version. Should sort your issue out for you.
To help us help you - please provide as much information about your system and the problem as possible.

I just ran into something similar. My computer would get stuck at the restarting or shutdown splash screen. I traced my problem down to the ROG Ramdisk. I have had it installed for a few months (fe day after the last patch) and 2 weeks ago i started having this issue. Havent installed anything recently either. Either way i had to uninstall the program reboot. Disk cleanup, optimized the drive, reboot. After that i reinstalled Rog Ramdisk and everything is fine.

THanks for the replies - have uninstalled Intel Rapid Storage Technology (IRST) and also made sure the XBOX 360 controller was removed from the USB at the front of the case. 3 shut downs and no issues so far *touch wood*
