hello all, First post and hopefully in the future it will be a more knowledgeable post !!

Ok ill get right down to it.

SPECS: Crosshair v formula z, AMD FX 8120, 16gigs Corsair vengeance, 2 MSI GeForce 660 ti's
ASUS dvd optical drive, 2 sata 1tb hdd's Rosswell 1000w PSU.

Now for the headache, Ok this system originally started out with a sabertooth mobo, and a corsair hx750 psu, different ram as well, Initial build went great, no problems installed windows without a hitch, then after about 24 hours or so, it would randomly freeze. No artifacts on the screen or anything of the sort. Just froze and that was that, quick reboot and everything was peachy. This happened twice on the third go, it started freezing on win startup screen.

So doing what every guy does I tossed money at it ! read thru the forums looking for similar problems Found some similar but nothing quit like mine, so I went all in got new mobo, new psu set er all up nice neat and orderly. Now its not recognizing any boot devices, the optical drive doesn't spin up, cant tell on the hdd's its like the sata connection is non existent .

I've reset the bios, I've disassembled and reassembled, I've changed everything known to man, im at my wit's end, I know some of you are thinking take it to a pro, but I like to do things myself, only way to learn. So if your familiar with this issue show me some sympathy and help me out 😛 im dyiiiiiiiing here !!

I've researched threads, haven't seen anything covering this same problem, so if it HAS I apologize before hand.

I SWEAR the dang thing is laughing at me !

Are the missing drives shown in the BIOS now you updated the BIOS ?

Can you list the make and model HDDs you are having problems with ?
MOBO - Crosshair V Formula
CPU - AMD FX-8350 @ 4.8GHz
COOLER - Corsair H100i / MX-4
RAM - 12GB G.Skill RIPJAWS X @ 2133MHz
GPU - XFX R9 295X2 8GB
HDD - 2TB Seagate
PSU - Corsair TX950W
CASE - Coolermaster HAF 922
OS - Windows 8.1 Pro 64bit

ok I finally am making the usb iso, took me a while had to dip into cmd to partition the darn thing. As that's copying ill answer your other questions, I have 2 WD 1t drives, new st8 out the box. and for my boot disk, a Kingston 120g SSD.

As for the drives, there still missing from the bios after the update. AHHH nothing easy on this one, unable to run bootsect to make the usb drive bootable. Well off to figure out how to do THAT now, If anything this has taught me 2 things, keep up to date, and you never know as much as you THINK you know 😛 I'll post back later

Why do you need to do anyting to your USB drive, the Microsoft USB tool does it all.

Think you are maybe overcomplicating things here.

Ok, two things, I THINK im making progress.. Usb stick in usb slot recognizes it and the Kingston hard drive !! Unfortunately, it randomly hangs going thru the installation progress. I have a qcode of AA wich I take to mean a good post all is ok, Unfortunately its NOT ok, its still hanging, I've had it hang on, the windows logo screen, the screen right after that ( where your supposed to pick where you want install) And as it was copying files onto the hard drive during install.. Fellas this sucks !!

The PSU going bang can hurt heaps of hardware in any system.

AMD will RMA the CPU so not worries there. Send it in for RMA.

ok got my computer back today, they couldn't do a thing with it. After having it for a week, they couldn't make any headway. SOOO i brought it back, replaced the dvd drive, cpu, and HD, booted it up, and....lol, i want to smash it with a big F'n hammer, it recognizes my SSD, my DVD drive, but not the sata HD, even though it recognizes the dvd drive, it wont boot to it. So in goes the usb stick, everything goes just peachy it installs windows files, and starts opening them. Goes for its first restart in the installing process. When it reboots, it starts reinstalling windows FROM THE BEGINING ! im tellin ya folks, this goes beyond rediculous.

Installing Windows is a two stage process. The first stage you boot from the DVD/USB and it'll copy all the files to your HDD/SSD. The second stage is when the actual instllation takes place.

I think your problem is having selected your USB pendrive as the first boot device. So when it restarts to continue on with the second stage, it's booting from the USB pendrive again. What you need to do is spam F8 as soon as you see the Asus logo. A window will come up for you to select your boot device. Choose the HDD/SSD to continue your installation.
