Hey Nodens thanks for the earlier advice. I lowered my VCCSA load-line calibration from extreme to high and increased my VCCSA current capability from 100% to 110% and that smoothed my RAM right out... tested past 100% with no errors. Temps hovering around 70-74 in Prime95 with a Noctua D14; not great but not bad for an air cooler. My first stable overclock :D.

I've started getting hard shutdowns today without changing anything since the RIVBE was installed last Friday.
If I drop the 4960X CPU down to 4.2Ghz 1.38v from 4.6Ghz 1.45v it seems ok. The VRM heatsink is almost too hot to touch. Would it be a VRM overtemp shutdown? Doesnt seem like a lot of load to me to be causing the shutdown.

If there was no airflow directly over the heatsink when the system was being stressed at those voltages, that would not have been good for it. I usually aim a fan directly at the heatsink when I'm doing this stuff (sensible thing to do).

If it's running excessively hot with no load, I'd stop and take that system apart and get the board tested. If it's damaged, chock it down to more misadventure.

I wouldn't say its excessively hot, I can rest my hand on the VRMs and the back heatsink is hardly warm at all.
I have an exhaust fan directly over the large heatsink at the back of the board, but as this is a water cooled CPU there is no direct airflow over the VRMs. This is a 24/7 system so what is a safe voltage to run through the VRMs with no direct airflow until I can sort some better cooling out? Looks like I'll be water cooling the VRMs after all. I can Jerry-rig a spare Ram fan over the VRMs for now.

I really was not expecting to have to worry about VRMs with the marketing about the new efficient design.
My RIVE ran much higher loads without problem even before I water cooled it.

Is there any temperature monitoring available anywhere for the VRMs? I cant find any VRM temps in any of the software or bios?
Other than that I've been pretty happy with the board! I would like to be able to store VGAhotwire settings in a memory on the OC panel though!

It's here! Perfect fit in the Cosmos II. And look, a sweet NCIX 2014 calendar! That makes it all worthwhile.

Actually, what's happening with supply in EU and Russia? I occasionally build PC for free as volunteer job, and I get nose for availability. The current offers looks like there would be no boards available for at least week, but more likely two before they would start to properly appear. I actually called today into HW component shop, and it looks like they don't even have it in the list from theirs suppliers.

I have spoken on the phone to various websites. ALL of them will not be getting ANY for a month ATLEAST in most cases. One of them said I'd be LUCKY if I got it before Christmas. I pre-ordered it off off one website before it's release and I'm still waiting for ASUS to deliver ANY to Europe. Why can't they let me give them my money and give me the product they advertise. It's really stupid on their part. Because I am a couple of days away from getting a cheaper board from a rival company. SURE it will be worse. BUT it will be 200 pound cheaper. I'm beginning to question whether this board exists outside America. One of my friends (of whom is also building a pc) has already done that as he ran out of patience. So that's £400 they've lost, about to be £800. I feel sorry for their shareholders....

If you know of a way to magically speed up production and distribution of a product worldwide, I'm sure their shareholders would like to know about it. Perhaps they would even give you a shares percentage for your innovation and a management or even a CEO position as well!

Now if you don't.. you can be patient like everyone else. 🙂
