OCing The Sabertooth Z87

Hello,

I'm trying to figure out if my settings are safe with my 4.8G speed. The Voltage is set to 1,3. I'm just using the CPU multiplier at 48. When I was running Aida64, The CPU cores are peaking at 100 degrees but the CPU itself average is in the 80s and might peak into the 90s. It never got hot enough to throttle, so I'm guessing these temps are safe. Can someone please, confirm.

I think that this Thermaltake Water 3.0 perf is doing a pretty good job. I wasn't expecting to do this well with the CPU at 1,3V. Or, am I wrong?

Thanks,
Waynerd

Normal day to day use is the temps you need to look at now.

That is not bad for 4.8GHz and I expect you are mid 50 - 60'C when running a game or similar.

WHat do you recommend as a way to monitor temps while playing a game? Sorry for all the noob Qs.

No n00b questions mate so ask away.

Seem to recall that HWMonitor offers a plug-in will have to look around to confirm that. But if you have the application running in the background you can exit and just check the maximums in any case.

So, once again, stress tests have let me down. I should know that by now spending 20 years in the telecomm industry. I installed CoD: Ghosts today (great game by the way) and i kept getting BSODs after a few minutes of play.. I eventually got it stabilized at 4.7G with the voltage at 1.33. Checking the temps during game play, it averaged in th 60s which is comfy for me. If I had a better cooler I would push it more but, I don't see what I can gain by adding a couple more hundred MegaHZ. Also, my wife is getting tired of me spending money on this build. She's been very gracious so far so, I'm not going to push it. But... If the current cooler should fail some time then.... 😉 😉
