NvME support for Maximus VI Formula

Does anyone have expeience using NvME with a z87 board? I see lots of hacks but bricking the MB is not something I am interested in.

I'm looking to upgrade my SSD on my Maximus VI Formula to Nvme but am not sure which type will fit correctly. I'm confused about connectors and which would be my best option. My budget is about $150. Any suggestions are welcome and appreciated. Thanks!
