Inspect all the power connections, particularly those that carry a lot of current, like the 4/8 pin plugs to the CPU and the power connectors to you grapics cards. They're the most likely things to give off a burning smell.

and fan headers, can cause this also..if pins short circuit..

Inspect the board, and the cables..

If there are smoke , its generally more power involved..

Hi, I've unplug and check everything, found something not good. Look like something had BURN.

Don't know will it cover inside warranty if I RMA it, but do I need to RMA it since my R4E still working. Strange thing is once I remove and put back the chipset cooler, the burning smell gone, very strange...

Micketkeong......I had somewhat of the same issue....My board also shorted out / burned for some unknown reason around the same area of the board...To be exact...It was towards the top left corner of the 4 pin....Upon reading up on the board...seems that this is not the 1st time that the RIVE as burned in this area...Funny thing is...the board still works fine as if nothing ever happened.....
RMA the board....You will not have any problem.....Here in Canada...had mine RMA'd and replaced within 24hrs.

Interesting. That's exactly where I found the Vreg hotspot when I detected Vreg CPU throttling over a year ago, and circled this spot:

I have posted this pic discussing it in a couple of previous threads. I think that is your CPU Vcore MOSFET.
The big flat rectangular block in front of it is the filter, as is a cylindrical capacitor ("cap") too.

Overclocking is useless to me if it is not rock stable.

Yep, RMA the board. It may work fine, but the way it is, the remaining transistors in the VRM will now be doing more work than they should have to.

So, there is a problem with this board?

If you mean a design flaw, no. As far as I could tell in Jan. 2012 all Mfgr's did the X79 single MOSFET CPU Vreg power design the same way.
