so, i just got my computer working when the rest of my water stuff came in the mail. So it was time to rebuild the pc.

i just finished my 24 hour leaktest, i get my usual giddy feeling of installing the rest of my components and powering on. hurrah no post!

1) i took out everything not necessary to run (extra vid cards, ram, dvd, hdd's {just os disk left})

2) double checked all power connections

3) cleared cmos, took out battery and cleared cmos

4) used 1 stick of ram in every single spot, tried different sticks , so 16 combinations in total were tried with a cmos clear in between each time.

5) all lights are green or off, except the dram light, which is a solid red no matter what. even after trying ram in different slots, and different sticks and trying the memok button.

6) ive tried 8pin power with 4 pin power, with the ez plug. I've tried just the 8 pin, I've tried 4 in the 8, and 4 in the 8, plus the other 4, yes the main 20/24 is plugged in.

I'm just at a loss, my screen is blank, my keyboard and mouse don't light on, nothing. The only thing new in his build other then my water components (no mobo block) is my power supply. But everything else is running and lit up.

chv mobo,
kingston hyperx 2x4gb only 1 stick at the moment (vender approved)
hd 4870x2
1090t

any ideas? thanks!

There are 3 kinds of ESD bag I encounter on a regular basis:

1#Pink Pink
Are regular plastic back but have been added / soaked in an Anti static fluid, they will lose their propertys over time and become regular plastic bags. They don't offer any protection vs ESD from external sources, but the bags them self don't build a charge.

2#Black
These bags there is added more carbon to the plastic mix to make it more conductive. No quite as conductive as the Silver ones but since its the whole material and not just a layer the bag keeps it's property's about as long as its not broken.

3#Silver
The silver is a layer of aluminum or nickel. As long as the metal layer is intact an the insulator between em is intact they offer the best protection.
