no post after rebuild

so, i just got my computer working when the rest of my water stuff came in the mail. So it was time to rebuild the pc.

i just finished my 24 hour leaktest, i get my usual giddy feeling of installing the rest of my components and powering on. hurrah no post!

1) i took out everything not necessary to run (extra vid cards, ram, dvd, hdd's {just os disk left})

2) double checked all power connections

3) cleared cmos, took out battery and cleared cmos

4) used 1 stick of ram in every single spot, tried different sticks , so 16 combinations in total were tried with a cmos clear in between each time.

5) all lights are green or off, except the dram light, which is a solid red no matter what. even after trying ram in different slots, and different sticks and trying the memok button.

6) ive tried 8pin power with 4 pin power, with the ez plug. I've tried just the 8 pin, I've tried 4 in the 8, and 4 in the 8, plus the other 4, yes the main 20/24 is plugged in.

I'm just at a loss, my screen is blank, my keyboard and mouse don't light on, nothing. The only thing new in his build other then my water components (no mobo block) is my power supply. But everything else is running and lit up.

chv mobo,
kingston hyperx 2x4gb only 1 stick at the moment (vender approved)
hd 4870x2
1090t

any ideas? thanks!

If the memory is approved to work with the board, then either both sticks of memory aren't working, or you need to RMA the board.

I had a solid red CPU light on my first CHV board running an 1100T, the board was faulty & has been replaced.
CPU: AMD Phenom II 1100T X6 4.0GHz
Motherboard: ASUS ROG Crosshair V Formula

Sound Card: Creative SoundBlaster X-Fi Titanium
Power Supply: Corsair TX850W V2

CPU cooling: Thermalright Silver Arrow
OS: Windows 7 X64 Ultimate
Monitor: HP 2510i 25"

thanks, i've been kind of leaning towards this. like this ram was working on this motherboard not but 2 weeks ago when i took my rig apart to put in the new case.

but why would it just start failing randomly now, maybe there is a short in the new case. i'm going to try taking it out and putting an antistatic sheet behind it so doesn't touch the case. if only i knew a way to check for continuity

Don't do that if its a silver bag. Those bags are conductive and could kill your motherboard if its not already dead.

They are made out of a conductive layer on the outside a plastic middle and a conductive inner layer.

That way if u close the bag, U got a Faraday cage shielding your ESD sensitive devise.

Mines didnt POST the first time I tried to start it, I´m trying as hard as I can to eliminate every single possibility before RMA, but it seems nothing I do solve it.
Good lucky with yours, I hope you can find a way to bring it back to life and maybe even learn with you and do the same with my CVF.
Best wishes.

after some deliberation, but i found the erm.. root of my problem...

one cpu pin was bent, so after some careful work with an eyeglass screwdriver, went in and booted no prob. now the joy is to put the pc back together, I'll post some pics soon when things are running.

Congrats on finding and more importantly fixing the problem.

True but most Anti-Static Bags are also conductive...and most regular bags carry enough Static to kill an Elephant....

This totally needs a Youtube video. 😄
