Hey Swordfish9921:)

I guess strictly gaming the 4770K and Maximus makes sense.... and with a couple of any of those cards is going to chew up any games and spit them out at ridiculous FPS at 1080p and great FPS at 1440p

But the RIVBE is a real classy board and if you like hardware and running benchmarks for a bit of fun and OCing etc. I would recommend it....and this from someone who was half convinced I was going to stick with my RIVE until X99...

The ROG Matrix cards are coming soon (not soon enough) a couple of those 290Xs......gaming, benching, starring contentedly at the rig when it's off.....all covered:D

thanks for the reply....i see u have the dominator ram would 2 sets of these 16gbs(8gb x2) work in either of those boards CMD16GX3M2A1866C9

Combining kits of RAM, even "same" make and model is never a good idea. X79 in particular has not shown itself to be a friend of this. The maximus and that platform are more forgiving but I still wouldn't recommend it. Get a single binned kit for either. For four sticks on the Maximus you could get a single quad channel kit and run it as two dual channel kits....but doing the other way around and on X79 would be asking for trouble if your CPU sample turns out to have a weak IMC (memory controler).

For gaming 16GB is plenty ...of course if you want RAM disks etc. you will want more...

For X79 G.Skill Z series is great or Dominator Platinums
For the Maximus G.Skill Trident X

ok thanks....would there be a benefit moving up from the 1866 to 2400? bc then id be going from 1.5v to 1.65v would lower the volts effect the 2400 ram sticks performance?

For gaming not really....only going to notice difference in benchmarks. if you mean take a 1.65v kit and run it at 1.5v you could do that probably but you would have to lower the frequency no doubt...

Thanks i opted so for rivbe w 4930k As for gpus i was looking at 2 sapphire tri x oc r9 290x or 2 780 t1s either the evga classified or galaxy 780ti hof when its released or titan black? Or wait a lil on the rog matrix n would i do 2 of those
