New Cooler

HI All

Having just built the rig in the sig, I'm running the i5 4670K on the stock cooler
and am getting 32 deg idle and 65 deg whilst playing Skyrim.

I'm planning on OCing but want to wait until I get a new cooler

So what I'm asking is what Cooler would you recommend ??
CPU - Intel i5 4670K @ 4.3Ghz...Cooler - Corsair H105 AIO WC.. MOBO - Asus Maximus VI Hero
RAM - 16 GB Kingston Hyper X DDR3 @ 1600mhz..... SSD - 500GB Samsung 840 Evo
HDD - 2TB Seagate.... GPU - Twin Nvidia 780Ti Sli... PSU - 1000W EVGA Modular
Case - Corsair 730T.... Win 7 Home Premium 64 Bit

If you're planning to stick with air, then look at the Noctua NH-D14

Depending on the level of OCing you plan to do, Corsair's H100i or H105 might have you set for water cooling; or, there are limitless options if you want to build a custom water cooling system.

@ Dr. Zchivago..

Thanks for the swift reply..

Am looking for an air cooler as I don't trust water cooling.. but maybe I could be persuaded if it would be beneficial for my rig.

I've haven't got a budget and will look at all suggestions..

Additional info..

Case only has room for 120mm fans

Another choice to consider is the CoolerMaster Hyper 212 Evo. Its direct contacting heat pipes have some advantages.

I suggest that you google for reviews of the Noctua and/or Coolermaster and check the comparisons you find.

Another point: Unless the Corsair Vengeance DRAM is 'low profile' there could be a problem locating one in the first or second DRAM slots under any of the larger air coolers. The size of the Vengeance heat spreader drove me to get a different model of DRAM to fit in the close sockets.

Jeff makes a good point - the Noctua I suggested initially is MASSIVE and can be used only with low-profile RAM, because it will cover at least the two closest RAM slots on that board (I think). Also, as large as it is - and most of the big air coolers like it - you need to take some pretty precise measurements to determine if it will fit.

The smaller air coolers - like the H212 Evo - will fit just about any setup in just about any case, but your overclocking potential will diminish. Also, a bigger cooler means more fin-surface area for heat dissipation (material is also important, but it's relatively safe to assume that they'll all be aluminum), so typically bigger is better - air flow through the case is also important.

The bottom line: look around for a while, as there are many different air cooling options.

Afternoon guys

The RAM is low profile.

As for the Noctua, i fear that it will be too large.

I will google the coolermaster H212 Evo.

I've done a bit of research into an AIO water cooler and it seems that it may be a good purchase.

Have been looking at a H80i and a H75, would one of these be good ?

The Corsair H105 would fit in your case at the top. If you want to overclock you need decent cooling. The 212 evo will not give you good cooling for overclocking.

Go for Raijintek Themis. Outperforms Hyper 212 and its cheaper, while just 2-3Dba higher.
i7 4770k delidded | Maximus VI Formula | 2x8Gb Gskill 2400 | HD4890 CF | NZXT 820

On VI Hero, Noctua NH-D14 with some pretty high DDR is doing just fine

Thanks for the posts guys..

Am impressed with the water cooling options you've posted.

Its really given me a headache.

Ive been looking at the corsair units but don't know which 1 to buy..
